Saying how good his 4th down play calling was last year points out the criticism he receives for downs 1 through 3, and to point out his best highlights like Stafford and Murray were over a decade ago. I hate to beat on Bobo but he’s an average OC and below average recruiter.

We'll see this season just how good of a OC Faulkner really is. Take away Haynes King at Tech last season, and I'm sure the appreciation for Faulkner wouldn't be quite so high. King made a lot of bad plays look a lot better with his ability to scramble and avoid the defensive rush..

@BubbaBill I don't disagree, but there are a lot of different responsibilities that make up the job description of an Offensive Coordinator, and Mike Bobo is very good at a lot of them (as mentioned by the DawgNation Analysts in the article above). The reason Mike Bobo draws so much criticism is that the responsibility of playcalling is the one that's the most visible, and it's also the one that he struggles with the most. His very predictable playcalling is nothing new, but he seems to be very stubborn in maintaining his style and hasn't shown any growth or improvement in that particular area. There are a lot of things that he probably excels at that happen inside the confines of the program facilities that we are unaware of. But when it comes to playcalling, it's out there for the whole world to see.

    GO DAWGS!

I don't want to wade into this debate because individuals on both sides are 100% convinced they are correct so no one wins. I just have to give a shout out for the article title. Has in common with Nickelback - classic indeed. Well done whoever. Go DAWGS!

Since NIL the Dawgs don't have the depth that they had under Monken. It seems that we are always dealing with key pieces on the board removed due to injuries and there is no one to plug into that position. And with the new scholarship rules and the nine game SEC schedule it will probably only get worse. Bobo has done a pretty good job with what he has had to work with.

Name the only school that has not fired Mike Bobo.

Last year we agreed, was a rebuilding year. Many great players and leaders we lost, to their success, forwarding their careers into the NFL. Injuries were key to some lack of production also, last year.

Pollock, again, recently, dissed his old team by not including last year's # 7 Heisman prospect in his top 10 for this year. Gunner will show many doubters, top 5 talent this year. He led them to 12 and 2 in a "rebuilding year"!!!

Our defence and all the talent on the offense is going to be fun to watch.

Coach Bobo…..give Gunner some good, and diverse plays!

    Pollack..eat crow.

    GoDawgs!!!

Nickleback is, indeed, a terrible band and Mike Bobo is a terrible play caller. The criticism is justified for both. Please quit making excuses for either of them.

We're stuck with him for awhile, but I'm curious who you guys would hire to replace him and why if we weren't stuck with him. Can't bring Monken back.

Who should UGA go with guys?

@dazzledawg - Correct! Amazed that the Jeopardy type question got 4 down votes! One can only wonder why some folks vote a question down. Maybe they don’t like the answer.

there’s plenty of talent out there. It’s up to Kirby to find it

  • dazzledawgdazzledawg Posts: 543 ✭✭✭✭ Senior

Still waiting on the know it all's for who Kirby should hire and why. What about you Kasey? Beats me.

i like the ucla OC who came from JMU with Bob Chesney. Focused on the run game and explosivity.

I think talking an assistant from the Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan tree could be beneficial.
