I kept trying to find last night's game. 2 hr and 44 minute rain delay. Now i know why I couldn't find the broadcast.
Just cancel the game and play a double header today.
I wonder how many fans stuck it out.
Would've been better had they not started. But the game was on Apple TV and I think there is pressure to start those because of the big national broadcast.
Cards gift wrapped us one on a velvet pillow today. I'll take it.
Ive seen Braves teams where you hated for the break to come. They were playing well. This team needs a break.
Lots to like in this win. J.R. Ritchie pitched 4 innings, giving up only 1 run. I see that as big for him and his confidence. The bullpen only gave up one other run. Some guy I never heard of - Hicklen - had 2 hits and an RBI. I think this was his first game as a Brave. Anyways, I agree with swilk - they need a break to rest and clear their heads and maybe send Riley to a sports shrink. We might be getting Ronald back after the break. I'd rather have him in RF, even if it's a bit of a sub-par season for him - so far.
Braves are building a nice non-losing streak!!
Albies starting tonight batting 6th I believe. Baldwin also starting batting 9th.
a little research dug this up about Ronald's rehab assignment in the rookie Florida coast league
Here is a look at his game log:
@swilkerson7317 I can understand Phillies fans booing Braves players during regular season contests, but at the All-star game? Real classy Philadelphia.
You would think we had on Santa outfits.
I dont guess I mind too much though. It's kind of what they are known for.
15 strikeouts by the nationals; 12 by the Americans. That's terrible.
Unwatchable I had to turn it off.
The All Star game had more juice back when there was no interleauge play. Want to see Wade Boggs face Dwight Gooden…..here is your one chance. That kind of thing.
Now it doesn't really mean much and if the game is a dud there isnt much to see.
Phillies got beat at home to start the second half.
Now if the Braves could rip off 5 in a row.
I'm with you on this for sure. This is kind of like the middle 8 in football. I know, I hate to mix apples and oranges. but a good solid start would be great. Put some immediate pressure on them. Those head to head(s) are going to be major.
Hope they can get Sale some runs tonight. Wonder if Ronald will be back.
Love your mindset!!!
Go Braves!
Pretty good article on what happened 35 years ago. This team of doormats finally put it together. Something Bobby Cox had been building since he took over as GM around 5 years earlier.
Watching that team get on a run that year was one of the best sports experiences Ive ever had. It was incredible. Every morning I would wake and turn it right to SportsCenter to see the results from the West Coast. The Tomahawk Chop. The chants of Daryl, Daryl. The uber talented Smoltz turning his season around. Young stars like Gant and Justice. Nixon stealing bases at a record pace. Veterans like Pendleton and Bream were incredible additions. Steve Avery the 20 year old phenom. The city and state got behind the team like never before.
I could go on and on. It was surreal. The Braves were not just a last place team but the worst team in Baseball. Then this happens.
I know they only have the two WS titles over that span. But that doesn't tell the whole story. I dont think there have been many franchises with as good a WL record as the Braves over those 35 years. In fact I would bet the Braves would top that list.
