ATHENS — Georgia was counting on Amaris Williams to be a big part of the team’s pass rush this fall.

Clearly negativity is the goal too often
Williams injury came as no surprise that is his history. Not sure he will ever be a contributor on the college level this should have been expected
Sounds to me as if me have one of our better offensive lines in recent memory. Our defense won’t be going against opposing offensive lines as seasoned and well coached as ours. I’m optimistic our pass rush is going to be fine! Go Dawgs!
We'll know by Game 2 what kind of pass rush (and overall team) we're going to have. I've discovered over the years that UGA teams typically reveal their nature in the first couple of games of the year, even against decidely weaker competition. Games we expect to be blowouts are often closer than expected, and we'll see trends begin to emerge early, such as: lack of a consistent pass rush, no explosive plays, difficulties scoring from the goal line, weak secondary play, inconsistency from the wide receivers, etc. The media and (some) fans tend to downplay these issues in the early season, claiming it's just a matter of shaking off the rust or the team trying to get adjusted to each other. We say that and then we get to Game 6 or 8, or 10, and we find those same things happening then as in Game 1. Last year it was lack of a pass rush and few (with exception of Zac Branch) explosive plays that dogged us all season. The year before that, we couldn't stop the run all year. The year before that, our wide receivers were barely noticeable. I hope we come out hitting on all cylinders against Tennessee State next month because history shows that how UGA begins a season — statiscally speaking — is how they end it. Go Dawgs!
never understood Kirby thinking he only needed one pass rusher out of the portal. Injuries happen and guess what, we lost one we just got. Just hope the rest can step up. Go Dawgs
I’m not a coach or an expert but and IF the secondary is as good as advertised. There should be allot of coverage sacks or INTs. Because as the QB is going through his checks trying to find an open guy here comes the pass rush. The pass rush that I think will be pretty good even without Williams.
KS is always gonna down play what he has. It’s how he tries to camouflage what he really has. Go Dawgs !!
because of who we already have in house
Exactly ! I think some of our Dawgs on Defense might be being underestimated by some Dawgs fans. I don’t say that with Any sarcasm what so ever. It’s just KS always down plays what he has.
I’ve been listening to some people ( different people) on YouTube. These people claim to have as much access as any writers here would have. They don’t say that challenging DN but they claim to be at practices open to media and they have thd “insider” knowledge supposedly.
They have different takes on different players but many of them are not painting the doom and gloom. Many say this will be the second best defense KS has had at UGA.
We All have opinions. But one thing is for sure the UGA Dawgs are not the only team in the SEC or CFB at large with questions and concerns. It goes with the territory this time of year. So it boils down to trust and faith in Kirby. I Believe that if any HC can negate questions and concerns it’s Kirby Smart !
I could be very wrong sure wouldn’t be the first time. But I’m very optimistic about this 2026 Dawgs team ! Of Course there are questions and concerns. But much of those can be ironed out with each game played. Just get the W on the game your playing that day. The rest will work out over the course of the year. Last year was actually a pretty good year. Didn’t reach the goals hoped for. But it was a building block for This year ! Go Dawgs !!
It's not unreasonable to expect injuries, in any season, but to expect them from one player or one position group afier such happens is complete hindsight. The team has depth options all over the roster, cso let's give Williams a chance to recover before beong summarily dismissed.
Kirby is not going to tell the press that his pass rush is fixed whether it is or not. We will all just have to wait and see the new edition of the Dawgs. I believe the D will suffocate offenses this year, and yes even Bama and Old Missy.
