The two voters who had Georgia ranked lower than the 67 others explain why Georgia is No. 8, while two of the 7 with UGA No. 2 share their take. Mark Richt weighs in.

Not only did UGA not receive a single AP numero uno vote, no SEC team received any. This should be posted on the motivation board in every SEC locker room. SEC Football, where it used to mean more!
Talk to me after September...we will all know enough by then to make a better read on all these "Top" teams.
Will Georgia be another team with a bunch of really good players, but not a lot of great? Or will some guys step up and become elite?
Only poll that matters is the last one..GoDAWGS!
I suppose sports writers have got to have something to write about so polls are the thing. I have never gotten excited whether we are at the top or the bottom of preseason prognostications. Tell me about the players progress and some recruiting mixed in and let's get on to the actual season. Go Dawgs
I think you are a year early with this post.
There are quite a few candidates expected to be "elite" players for '26 UGA. They are all over the defense. Off the top of my head, 0, 1, 4, 5, 9, 19, 90 and 99 are all expected to be elite players this season.
Offense is a different story with many more questions. The real key is at QB. The season success will be determined by the number of good plays the QB makes and the number of bad plays the QB makes.
@JimmiesNJoes "Not only did UGA not receive a single AP numero uno vote, no SEC team received any. This should be posted on the motivation board in every SEC locker room. SEC Football, where it used to mean more!"
This is a turning point season for both UGA and the SEC. Though it must be said that teams like TX, aTm, AL and LSU are doing their best to keep up with the arms race that has become CFB in the pay for play/NIL era.
It’s a preseason poll, and we can all act like we know exactly what we’re talking about, but we really don’t,” Edmonds said. “I’d rather we didn’t put the poll out until everyone has played four games.”
I noticed that Komi Riley from Baton Rouge conveniently had us ranked #8 while his beloved LSU is ranked #6. No bias here for sure. Matters not and Go Dawgs!!!
Koki not Komi, and he’s 1 of the 2 “experts” quoted in the article so take his input with a grain of salt and some pepper too. Go Dawgs!!!
Sorry for the double post below. I couldn’t do that again if I tried. 😂
As Nolan Smith would say; ("THEY PICKED US TO GO 7- 5). Dawgs will be ok. I think the so-called experts are sleeping on this team's ceiling.
Koki makes some "valid" assumptions. In fact he is parroting the same assumptions made by most of the talking heads around country who look at a 20,000 foot snapshot of the top teams.
Did we really expect 27 year old Koki Riley, and his 5 years of experience, to provide any more insight and depth of analysis that what he gave us? I take his "observations" with a roll of the eyes.
The clown writer Riley knows absolutely NOTHING about UGA's current ability to rush the passer, and states that the 3 star transfer to Miami is better than Stockton. It is sometimes better to be thought of as an idiot, instead of typing **** $#i! and proving it.
Seems to me the poll position is same as media hype over players - lots about Texas, Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon and little about UGA. For example, ESPN's "Top 100" players had 4 Dawgs while it seemed littered with players from above mentioned teams. Then, their @ 50 "Sleepers" had 0 Dawgs! Tell me Elijah Griffin, Demello Jones, Nate Frazier, Redell, Elyiss Williams, Quintavious, etc. don't belong somewhere in there.
The most sensible thing I've heard one of these experts say..
