So let me get this straight. SEC footprint expands significantly while Ticket prices have increased along with gas & food. And Im being asked to split an ever dwindling budget for entertainment to see a bad TN State team @ 3 ? Maybe it isn't the fans that need challenging. Instead try scheduling better opponents….AT NIGHT… IN EARLY SEPT.

I live in walking distance with season tickets but I'm probably going to enjoy my AC this Saturday. Its hard to get up for a game that is barely a step above Gday, with culture that exists in college football regarding transfer portal, NIL etc. I no longer feel the same connection to the players, and the illusion of us vs them has been taken away for me.
It may be just me, but it's odd for common folks to be asked to pay millionaires to watch them do their job. The concept of attending athletic events seems very silly when you look at from a 10,000 ft view and **** away the tradition and pagentry, which is eroding annually in college football.

Kirby’s comments came across differently than what he probably intended. The FANS that endure the heat, rain, cold aren’t going through training camps to watch a game. A better comment would have been to encourage fans to start hydrating in Friday so they’ll be ready for the game. I agree with the other two comments about rooting for millionaires in this heat. I might not stay for the whole game like I usually do. Go Dawgs!
I won't fault anyone for choosing not to stand around inside a huge concrete bowl during the hottest three hours of a 96° day just to watch Tennessee State.
Smart would be well advised to conserve his [whatever the sports equivalent of political capital is] in challenging the fan base for opponents that actually matter. This isn't a great look.
I love Coach Smart's comments! I think they're fun. And what a thrill it would be to put on the pads & run out with the team! I think I could run from the tunnel to sidelines with pads and cheer the team on but that's about it. And even that's provided nobody hit me.
I get the comments here about watching millionaires play in an oven. I truly get it. But I don’t think Kirby’s intent was to snub fans. I agree with @Max. I think he was just trying to challenge and it came out wrong. Look before Kirby, during Kirby, and after Kirby one of the very best parts of Dawgs football are it’s Fans !!
And the heat in Georgia is a whole different brand than out west. It’s the humidity. You feel like you’re suffocating in your own sweat. Due to health issues I couldn’t go if the weather were perfect. But I’d sure love to !!
If you can Please Go even if you don’t stay the whole game or even past half time. Let’s do as we have done year after year and Show that Dawg Nation is the greatest fanbase in CFB !! I hope when the cameras pan the stadium at least at the start of the game it’ll be filled with Dawgs fans !! Go Dawgs !!
You know on doing a re-read on this it might be that Kirby was challenging the media he was talking to more so than fans ?

After he made the comments last year that he doesn’t work for the fans I lost all respect as a fan. After Kirby won those 2 nattys and reached that $13 million salary he seemed to have developed an arrogant attitude. Good coach but don’t talk down to your fans. Go dawgs
I got no problem with KS challenging the media and the fans just like he challenges the players. He knows how hard they work in that heat and wants the fans to show their appreciation to the team. It doesn’t matter the opponent, when the ball is kicked off the players have to play. The fans and media will be fine sitting in the stands drinking beer and soda and eating nachos for three hours.
