ATHENS — Kirby Smart didn’t hide after the game.

Yes, we play Missouri in Athens.
Also, Georgia Tech plays us in Sanford Stadium.
Go, Dawgs!
Riddle was terrible yesterday. Nate Frazier is overrated. Dogs will be fine. Can’t win them all. Stinks that it was at home. Just beat Gator.
Imo...Frazier was still hurt. He was just the least injured of the 4 backs nursing wounds. Phillips played well enough to win. Special Teams and the trench guys had a very rough game. But....at this pount, virtually everybody is nursing nicks and dings. It takes a little off your ganme, no doubt.
The good news is...they have two weeks to heal.....and build more depth off of the added reps this round of injuries (1st half of the Season) provided the younger, inexperienced players....for an inevitable 2nd round of nicks and dings which will follow every Team into the CFP.
Gotta fix those Special Teams units, though. It's become unacceptable. If they need to move some Coaches around....so be it!
My bad. We do play MO @ Sanford in Nov.
Lots of missed tackles on Auburn's quarterback. He's a load at 235 lbs. Defense tried in vain to tackle him high. Am I wrong to think you have to tackle a guy like that low?
I saw your comment this morning while at church but could only respond now. My response is long, but there was a lot from yesterday to absorb. But, finally, a likeminded UGA fan. Folks hate to see anyone really critize UGA but the truth is just the truth. And with millions of dollars floating around, the truth should be told. I agree with just about everything you wrote and the grades. Especially with coaching, I love, love, love Kirby. I want him at UGA forever. But I hate that when we lose a game, he makes it seem almost inevitable. Texas loses and Sarkisian says "everyrthing," including Arch, is up for review. Florida loses and their coach says, "it's unacceptable." Same for Beamer at South Carolina.
I get that Georgia can lose football games. That's why they play them. But there is NO WAY Georgia should have lost to Auburn THIS YEAR, especially after being up 14 points less than 10 minutes into the game. At home. That shouldn't happen, and Kirby ought to be able to say that's not acceptable. If a UGA running back had had three turnovers in a game (all in plus territory, no less), he might not play again this season — and the fans would be calling for his execution (remember Nate Frazier last year). Gunner Stockton has three turnovers and Kirby's comment is, "Gunner's going to have turnovers." Say whaaaat?? I may not have sat him the entire game for Puglisi, but I probably would have played Puglisi more in the first half. Remember not only did Stockton throw that deep interception then, but he also badly missed on a pass to Phillips in the flat, then he inexplicably ran off the field before before the FG attempt when the entire stadium saw that we were lining up to attempt one.
Again, your grades are spot on. I especially love what you said about the wide receivers. Yes. They catch passes., as they're supposed to. But with the possible exception of Dandridge, the freshman, they really shouldn't be the strength of this team. Yet, they are. Also, I think Phillips should be made RB1, at least for now. He's quicker to the hole than Frazier, he's faster once he's in the open field, AND he actually breaks more tackles than Frazier and has better body lean as he's being tackled. And I believe that if Frazier hadn't played yesterday, our O-Line would have looked much better because Phillips would have done more. As it was, the guy averaged 6.8 yards per carry on 10 totes, running behind the same O-Line with the same plays as Frazier. Sort of makes you go, hmmm.
Finally, the special teams. yes, they get an F. I'm never sure, though, if blocked kicks are the fault of the kicker or the line. Or even the placeholder (as I do think Stockton's late arrival on the field affected the kick). But regardless, the end result is the same. I'm not against White-Helton returning punts. But all I want him to do is fair catch them. I think ever since Tyrik Green did so well with returns earlier this season, Sacovie has been trying to make that game-breaking return. He's quick, but he's not explosive. Not in the way that Green is — or was before he got injured. The TV announces kept calling him a "dangerous" return guy yesterday and I thought he's dangerous alright, he's in danger of muffing a punt. And alas, he did. If he will just catch the punts before they hit the ground from now on, he will have done enough.
You definitely can dive at him and expect to take him down.
Definitely can't dive……..
@BigDawg61 I considered Frazier’s injury, but I’m thinking about his entire three years when I say he’s overrated. He’s not a game breaker, he doesn’t feel like a deadly weapon the way other great RB’s did. He’s just not at the level of players like Gurley, Chubb, Soni, Knowshon. But people seem to regard him at the level of those guys. Heck, I wouldn’t take Frazier over Olandis Gary, Musa Smith, or Kregg Lumpkin.
DallasDawg said it in his lengthy post: Frazier is too slow hitting the holes.
He’s does a lot of wiggling back there but then hits the hole too late. He needs to stop all the juking in the backfield and just hit the holes. Too much wiggle, not enough blast
Look, we all love Kirby and the players, especially those recruited out of HS and developed by UGA. But Kirby and staff get the big bucks and players get NIL. The notion that fans can’t be really critical is rubbish. An inferior team spotted us 14 at home and we still lost. Completely unacceptable. The excuses from Kirby and others close to the program before and after just make it worse. Own it; do better.
How is Kirk Benedict not on the hot seat? The special teams are no better than when the season started and in terms of punting is worse. I'm sorry but Frazier is UGA's Ronald Acuna. We blew a lot of NIL money to get him to stay and we certainly have not gotten a return on that money. I do not understand why Bobo wants to run our QB on a draw the first play of the game. We do not have a backup QB that is ready to step in and play at the level Gunner is. WHY RISK AN INJURY?! ****, just ****.
Imo....if you are criticizing UGA...this week....after the War they went through in Tuscaloosa…
You are hitting down on your own Team. Which tells me, you aren't being objective. You are pointing out the obvious....without knowing or understanding...Why?.
For instance...Why did the Dawgs "look like" they were playing "injured"?. Because, they were. If you can't give em a Pass, on losing to a Rival at home...after Beating a Top 10 Rival on their home turf and being assaulted after the game....you don't understand football.
There's A reason undefeated Teams are rare in the SEC. Everybody can play. It's an NFL Developmental League. 1 loss is nothing and should be expected.
I said at the beginning of the Season....the only thing that can beat UGA...is UGA. And, that's exactly what happened. The Alabama Game...uncharacteristically effected the Auburn Game.
I think the Dawgs performance was because of what Kirby said, before the Game...." We're A beat up Team, right now". He wouldn't have said that...unless they were really hurting.
The fact they only used 2 running backs and only had 3 players with carries including the QB.…should be a prime indicator to the casual Fan. The Dawgs were hurting.
Go Dawgs....Lick your wounds and your chops boys....there's Gator Tail on the menu. Lol
I disagree....Have you never seen an injured back play? Lol...he was having to protect himself and the ball...while being used mainly for short yardage. There's a reason for everything they do. Try looking for it. Lol....they're the same team that went to war...literally... just one week prior.
Lol....Coulda' used a Bye Week last week. Oh well...ya can't take a week to heal, after every Game. They'll be drooling for Florida. If I was a Gator....I'd be worried & A little scared, I think. Lol
Go get em Big Red....that was only 1/16th or 6% of your Season. Don't let a bunch of Debbie Downers try to tell you who you are. Lmao
I gotta say...as a lifelong Fan of the Dawgs (among others)....it looks to me, like some of the Fans that post on DawgNation are just waiting for em to make a mistake so they can pounce.…and show off their "objectivity" and ability to express it....Lol.
I notice those same people disappear...when the goin' is good. Never an acknowledgement of being wrong or a part on the Dawgs head. The only Bones they throw the Dawgs...are tainted with evil. Lol
Nobody's taking the wind out of these boys....but, I think Alabama is the last "slugfest" we're gonna see, before the CFP. They can't afford to get that physical again, for a while.
These last two games....reminded me of some of the games we used to get, during & after a Tennessee Game back in the day. Talk about "Physical".... you were lucky to get out of there (Knoxville) with your Team intact.
