Re: Ryan Puglisi takes major step in his development as Georgia QB with first game action
what if Gunner is back for his fifth year though?

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
I wasn’t trying to denigrate Beck in order to promote Gunner at all. But Kasey in that particular game Beck struggled badly I’m sure you saw that to. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades the INT didn’t go for a pick 6. I’m not saying the players liked Gunner better than Beck. I don’t know why. But their energy level took a significant rise when he came on the field. If you remember in My comment I said I didn’t like QB controversies. I stand by that. But on That particular night I don’t think Beck could bring us back. It happens to the very best athletes even in the pros. It’s just humanity. Let’s just hope that Gunner doesn’t have many if any of those. But like Beck or any QB he could. As a Dawgs fan I just hope he doesn’t. I never pulled against Beck so that Gunner could come in. Though that tidbit of time Might help him a smidgen.

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
Note that Puglisi was invited to the QB Elite 11 which is a huge honor and by invitation only !!

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
Ryan Puglisi Senior Year. He has a Very impressive record as well. I think we’re in Excellent shape having him as a Dawg. Here’s the thing though IF he follows through and signs Jared Curtis has better credentials than Both Gunner and Pugs !! The future could get really interesting at UGA !!
As a senior, Puglisi threw for 1,858 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for more than 350 yards and four touchdowns.
In addition, he competed in the finals of the 2023 Elite 11 quarterback competition.
Following his senior season, Puglisi was named the Gatorade Connecticut Football Player of the Year.

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
Gunner Senior Year At Rabun County HS. You just don’t get these numbers being a slouch at QB I don’t care if it’s HS !! Cause the people your playing With and you play Against are all HS level. Rabun County is a AA school but look at Brock Vandergriff he came from a school equal to class A.
As a senior in 2021, he led them to the state playoff quarterfinals again with a 12–2 record while throwing for 4,134 yards, 55 touchdowns and only one interception, being named All-State for the fourth time in his career and being named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year.
He set the state records in passing touchdowns, total passing and rushing touchdowns and combined passing and rushing yards.

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
We certainly don't need to see him running up the middle when he IS in the game. With DPhillips able to fill the same role as CJones I'm not sure I see much of a role for him this season.
Also, I think GS has a bigger arm than JFromm. Fromm was a cerebral QB. Still to be shown if GS has the offense and reads down as well as Fromm did.

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
I agree Puglisi has the traits you’d look for to be a future NFL QB. And he might have a little better arm strength. A little. But Gunner also has plenty of arm strength. Sometimes he throws a little To hard. He can most definitely make the deep throws down field if given a chance. He made a very nice deep toss to Arian Smith last year where he did put just the right touch on it.
Just my opinion but I think Pugs has a slightly better arm where Gunner has slightly better legs. But your right as rain that Pugs has better height to see over the line of scrimmage better than Gunner.
I wouldn’t rule Gunner out of being NFL material in a lower round much like Stetson Bennett. Maybe that’s what KS was talking about as far as confidence. But I tell ya if I had Gunners legs and saw some huge D Lineman bearing down on me I’d be awful tempted to tuck the ball and run to !! I guess KS wants him to hang in there a couple more seconds to let the play develop. But I’d rather him run and get Some yards than be sacked !! But that’s why I’m not a HC !! 😀

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
agreed. Kid is a gamer but with that RB room we don’t need to see him much. I’m hoping Kirby was giving him some love early against a paycheck opponent.

Re: Kirby Smart shares âwhatâs nextâ for Gunner Stockton, areas he expects improvement
I see what you’re saying. I appreciated that Beck being from Jax didn’t go to the mud lizards which he easily could have. And I Do appreciate the contributions he made to Dawgs success. It’s not realistic at all to think we will win a Natty every year or being realistic probably not even every other year. Though we should Always shoot for that.
Beck actually did pretty dawg gone good. The B2B Nattys set the bar sky high, Now it will be considered a failure if we don’t win it !!
Again and I know you have good reading comprehension I’m saying this for us all. YES Dawgs should aim for the Natty Trophy every single year. But even his majesty Nick Saban didn’t do that !! Just not gonna happen Especially with NIL and the TP being part of the game now.
No I understand people have their “favorites” It’s human nature. I have mine. And I openly say that I want Gunner to do really well for himself And the team.
My wife and I moved up here to his home county July made 3 years ago. People here really think Allot of not only Gunner but his family. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Gunner but I have had a lengthy conversation with his Dad. A very nice gentleman that I really enjoyed talking with. I’m told by the folks here that Gunner had a promising baseball career but chose football instead.
His throwing the ball super hard especially at close range is something he’s gonna need to dial back. But arm strength ain’t a problem for the kid. And he Can have “touch” but he’s gonna have to keep working on it. He threw a very nice deep pass to Arian Smith in the SECCG, nice touch on that pass but he needs to continue polishing it.
I’m pretty excited and happy about Puglisi to. I love that since his early childhood he’s wanted to be a Dawg.
We have freedom of speech and freedom of opinions. So far there’s only one guy that pops on here from time to time that gets down right n a s t y about Gunner. He takes it to a personal level and there’s no call for that at all. Theres another guy that clearly doesn’t like Gunner, he’s pretty harsh but so far he doesn’t get personal.
You know as good or better than I do that these players Want to Win, want to be successful for a variety of reasons. Beck did to. And with the exception of playing our Dawgs I wish him the very best. I’m hoping Gunner will reach the highest peaks. But and if he fails so bad that KS thinks he needs to pull him I’ll be rooting the same way for Pugs.
I doubt we’ll ever see it under Kirby but ole Spurrier made allot of hay using Two QBs. I wouldn’t be against it as long as they set both QBs up for success as best possible.
Kasey my greatest concern right now is the O Line. I’m sure They want to win to. KS and staff seem to do well recruiting the right players. So in my humble opinion I’m wondering if the techniques they are being coached is the problem ?? And we both know if they deviate from those techniques they’ll catch allot of flack from coach when they get back to the sideline.
To Me Searls is more of a risk than Bobo. A dominate O Line can make bad play calling look much better. Bobo Can call some great plays we’ve seen him. It just seems when he gets on something that’s Not working he Stays on it far to long.
My family used to joke about guessing the next play, handoff to the RB up the middle tween the tackles ? Nah Bobo wouldn’t call that !! Just because he’s already called ten in a row !! 🤣
But as I said there have been times he called lengthy series of good to great plays. But that up the middle for instance it’s like he thinks to himself “ the opposing team would never dream Id run that again so I’m gonna run it again”. Head scratcher.
OK end of this novel I’ll sign the inside cover for you !! Nah sorry it was so long. Just allot of things cruising around in my ole noggin !! Have a good night !! Talk with you and our fellow Dawgs fans again tomorrow.

Re: Ryan Puglisi takes major step in his development as Georgia QB with first game action
”…we’re going to continue to develop him.” I hope we’re developing him to be a QB at UGA and not somewhere else. I thought he looked very good Saturday. That TD pass was a rope and on the money.
