Re: Spring Training
2=0 now. Incredible comeback last night in the 9th. Great start by Lopez!!
Braves 2026
There are enough of us Dawg fans here who follow the Braves that we should have a thread for the season.
I think this has been done in years past too correct? Hopefully the mods are ok with a little baseball talk over here. Gonna be a lot of fan crossover between Dawgs and Braves.
2-0 start not bad. Probably should've lost last night but the game got away from the Royals closer.
Been impressed with the defense. Dubon can really pick it at SS. Gold Glover. Riley really looks like he is hungry to have a big year. Olson too. Yaz is a solid player got a bunt hit last night. This team is gonna hit.
Starting pitching still a concern but if you get a good game out of Holmes today that is 3 for 3 quality starts. Keeping in mind the SP situation should improve as guys return later. Bullpen looks solid.
Add all that up and the fact you have fresh blood at manager with Weiss and it could be a really good year. Love Snit but he was too old school. We needed a new manager. Fresh approach things had gotten stale.
Most Braves fans know this but if you dont Weiss is a legit bad azz. As in a legit MMA trained guy. Braves get in a brawl this year you wont see anyone looking up Walt.
Re: Spring Training
Great win! Huge power show!
Riley and Olson get off the schneid in the first game!
Gotta love it!
162-0 baby! Go Braves!

Re: Dawgs NCAA Tournament discussion
Photo from UGA’s last (and only) NCAA Final Four appearance in 1983–the year after Dominique turned pro. Still amazes me.
Fun fact: Elfrem “EJ” Jackson, lower left, was a walk-on player who also was my UGA intramural basketball team coach. He later transferred to Ga State.

Re: Spring Training
Truly amazing though that Alex Anthopoulos has chosen to practically use "duct tape" to put together the Braves back end of their rotation, knowing full-well he needed a starter in his words as a top end guy that can help with playoffs. I'm fine with both Holmes & Elder in a rotation, but both would be a 5th starter in my mind. We have Sale perfect as a 1, Lopez 2 or 3, Holmes 5, Elder 5, Suarez (this is our 5???), Fuentes (future 1 or 2 if handled well this season), Bido (future 4 or 5 maybe???)
AA please wake up and DO SOMETHING!!! (think he's been sleep walking since 21 season?)
Re: Spring Training
Okay, the roster ended up being the same as above except Osvaldo Bido, a starter/reliever (experiece at both the past three major league seasons) released by the Yankees, has been picked up by the Braves and will fill Spencer Strider's spot on roster as Strider was put on the 15 IL - oh the luck of the Braves!
Pitching staff now listed below:
Starters: Sale, Lopez, Holmes, Elder, J Suarez* & Fuentes*
Relievers: Iglesias, R Suarez, Lee, Kinley, Bummer, Payamps & Bido*
*2 of these will likely start games 5 and 6 against the Athletics with a 6 man rotation for at least the first time through in a 13 game stretch without any off days. Bido again has started 28 games over the last three MLB seasons, so he could be the 6th day starter to allow Fuentes to begin this season in the bullpen as the Braves have hinted about their desire to keep Fuentes in the bullpen for the time being.
I personally hope to see Suarez & Fuentes start these games, especially if the Braves start out well through the first four games.

Re: David Pollack says âGeorgia has no chance to win a nattyâ if Gunner Stockton doesnât improve
I usually agree with DP, but not on this. Sure, we all want every player to improve, and that includes Gunner. However, Gunner played well enough for us to win the SEC. He also played well enough for us to beat Ole Miss in the playoff game. The D and a lull in play calling lost the playoff game, not Gunner.
Yes, there is room for Gunner to get better. Obviously, that would be great. But for the Dawgs to win a natty the D must improve more than Gunner. Creating havoc, as Kirby says, is an absolute necessity. Pressuring the QB and making tackles for a loss is sorely needed. The 2021 natty wasn’t won by SB, it was won by a magnificent defense, arguably the best defense I’ve ever seen. Plus Monken was a better play caller than what we had last season. That was one heck of a combination.
