"JTS Brown, no ice, no glass."
What movie did I hear that in?
I keep a bottle in my cabinet. Bring the steaks and I'll bring the bourbon anbd cigars!
Paul Newman as Fast Eddie Felson in The Hustler. He reprised that role in The Color of Money.
thanks. I loved The Hustler and do recall that line.
I like mine Thelonious Monk style, "Straight No Chaser".
For me, Single Malt Scotch with the following conditions:
1. Non-chill filtered
2. Natural color
3. Minimum 46% ABV
Will try any brand with these 3 features.
Go Dawgs!
Not that far off topic. My dad was an avid scotch and cigar guy. Somewhere along the way he was converted to a tequila and cigar guy. And remained that way for the rest of his life.
Those are so good. But I was wondering would it be sacrilege to make old fashions out of good bourbon?
Julian Van Winkle drinks Pappy on the rocks with a twist of lemon, as well as using it for Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, so I think you are free to drink whatever you like however you like it and with (or without) whomever you like.
I have another question for you guys. How do you store it? I put mine in the freezer. But I only have a bottle, maybe two. It looks like you guys just keep it at room temp. Is placing it the freezer ok?
Was going to share some info on this very question a while back. Pretty simple procedure to keep your good stuff stored. Just keep it in a cool, dry and dark space. Unlike wine, never lay bottles on their sides. I have a large lazy Susan under a kitchen counter that I keep all my liquors. Works well for maintaining them. Been told that one should finish off a bottle within a few months of opening, but I've had bottles opened for almost a decade that didn't seem to be adversely affected.
As for the freezer ?, if that's the way you like it don't change it. Enjoy!
Yeah an opened bottle could last me a few months. I just don't drink liquor that often. I was worried it might not last at room temp. But if you've stored them for decades, I think I'm good.
Ok guys. I am thinking about getting Techie Hubby a good Scotch or bourbon for Father’s Day, but last I heard Glenmorangie had gotten a little pricey. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Do you have price point in mind?
