I did that with a bottle of Old Forester 100 proof...wasn’t so lucky on the feeling better part!
I drank a half a bottle of Weller last night, didn't feel too bad today....
@t@tfk_fanboy have you tried Larceny small batch? I haven't had the chance just yet...
@Tdub0199 yeah, I am a fan. another wheated bourbon. for $25ish it is a great value. good enough to enjoy on ice but great for a cocktail too
Don't know if this was mentioned and not to be a spoil sport, but much distilled whiskey is sourced.
Video explaining:
Midwest Grain Products Ingredients (MGP), Lawrenceburg, IN (under Indiana llisting), from May 2017:
yeah, def. a dirty secret
why I am always hesitant to buy one of the dozens of new fancy labeled bottles with a name I have never heard of. I imagine 95% of it is just drastically marked up stuff that I could get cheaper under a different name
I would love to see a list of who distills their own and who does not.
Who does what: Can use the second link ^^. This one v v is the index to the states. Can only get it by state using this. Indiana (MGPI) and Kentucky (many) are interesting. Nothing by marketed brand here, so have to look. Note: This list was stopped in May 2017, and is only as accurate as the brands/distillers are truthful/forthcoming. Feds as the video says don't do much enforcement in this area. Caveat emptor (as you "emptor" your bottle).
snagged a bottle of Angel's Envy Straight Rye
wow, what a flavor. I have never tried anything that taste like this. Very unique.
Strictly FYI: Angel's Envy is an MGPI (IN) sourced product. Not saying that Louisville Distilling didn't finish it is a distinctive way. (End of "sourcing comments" from me.)
I've really been enjoying the EH Taylor Barrel Proof
oh I know
try a glass and tell me it taste like any other rye you have ever had. Angel's Envy's entire lineup is pretty unique
the rye for example is aged for 6 years, much longer than most others. especially from MGP. then Louisville distilling ages it for 18 months in barrels previously used for cognac and rum
it is a very unique taste. I can see some not liking it, it is almost a dessert drink. that rum barrel really did a number on it.
I have been wanting to try that. I have only had one bottle out of the Taylor lineup. Their stuff is hard to find around here
I have not been disappointed out of any EHT that I have had: small batch, rye, single barrel and barrel proof. I have to get my hands on some 4 grain
I am actually going to grab a bottle today. Last week I went with the Stagg Jr because the store said they rarely have it in stock.
