If party A wants to sell their body and party B is a willing buyer, I have no issue as long as it's done in private, both parties are adults and the environment isn't damaging to a commercial area or neighborhood.

That’s exactly my point. The amount of time they suspend the license is nothing compared to the consequences suffered by the victims, not to mention there is no difference in penalties for someone at .08 vs a legitimately intoxicated BAC like happens the more you exceed the speed limit. You can point to the legal code but what happens in real life is mosty focused on the money. If DUI’s were REALLY about saving lives the punishments would be much worse. As you said, your friend still had a license to drive to and from work and all over town for various reasons. @WCDawg, You arent “agreeing with Levander” that DUI’s should be severly punished. He thinks the penalties are already harsh enough.
Surprising someone with an Ivy League background would buy that garbage about consumer safety in regard to Uber and Lyft. That angle failed when it was pointed out there has always been an electronic record of the driver, rider, pickup location, and drop off point with both companies - something that still does not exist with a taxi. The transactions are cashless, making them much less of a target for thieves. The “public safety” line was immediately ridiculed by Uber and Lyft customers, and for good reason. It was a made up ploy that only briefly got the support of the same type of nitwit mentality that thinks gun control is a solution to keep guns away from criminals. The Uber fight was just another example of being about the Benjamins.

I’m surprised at the number of people saying prostitution in this thread shouldn’t be illegal. Here’s a video I watched maybe a month ago that basically spelled out everything I had alway kind of suspected. But the lady says it all with facts and experience to back it up. And weaves it all together in a way that makes much more sense than I had ever bothered to try to. And I kind of knew the difference between legalization and decriminalization of various activities. But this lady really makes the difference plain.

To me, this really is a non-news story. He's widowed. He's old. He's extremely wealthy. He is not a story much at all. IMHO he might have pi$$ed someone off. This is merely an attempt to just embarrass him for a while in public. This too shall pass.
If a person has multiple DUIs or a victim is involved the DUI is no longer a simple misdemeanor due to "aggravating factors". In the case of multiple DUIs you move from high misdemeanor for the 2nd offense to a felony by the fourth. DUIs that result in bodily injury to another are felonies. You seem to think drunk drivers can kill people and go home the next day as long as they pay a fine. Yes, going to work and the grocery store on the way home from work and church on Sunday is "all over town".
The main contention over safety between ride hailing services and cities was finger printing drivers and vehicle inspections. Taxi companies have to submit to these and other regulations which made them feel as if the playing field wasn't level. Those were the issues and it had nothing to do with drunk driving money as you say.
BAC over .08 is definitely intoxicated and people should avoid driving with any BAC over 0.
Yeah....at first I thought this was a funny story kind of like when Hugh Grant got caught with a hooker. Now it’s taken a darker turn. This could be really bad for Kraft. If it’s true, I hope they lock his azz away for a very long time. This will probably be the end of the Pat’s dynasty.
Makes you wonder what was going on at that place that got his attention. Was he able to get something there that he couldn’t get somewhere else? Makes me thing there is something a lot more sinister going on than a simple happy ending. The guy could walk into any bar in Boston and walk out with any number of opportunistic non-hooker women if that is all he wanted. I’ll wager that underage girls were involved. When the dirty details come up, someone better put Kraft on suicide watch. This is going to get very ****.

I agree if it was just a simple “guy wanted to get laid so he hired a hooker” story. I don’t think it’s that simple. Sex trafficking is suspected...and most sex trafficking involves children. Why would a gazillionaire fly to florida to a cheap ****-mall massage parlor to get some nookie? They were able to provide something he couldn’t get elsewhere. There is a lot more to this story.
