Did the other 2 guys offer an explanation or apology?
Idk about any guys but your mom and sister said something about your cousin and would rather stay in the family?
Actually Justin Fields could've started for Georgia and most any other team in the country. Just so happens that we already had a more than capable starter in Jake Fromm and Georgia's offense wasn't broke so there was no compelling reason to bench a returning starter no matter the newcomers upside.
Well, sure. By one way of looking at things anybody could start for a college team. The coach just plays the best guy on the team at the positions needing to be filled.
Not taking anything away from JF's upside. Not saying I wish anything but the best for him. Making clear that I liked him well enough and wanted him to stay at Georgia and believed he would be probably be ready to take over and play well after Jake Fromm leaves.
However, I never saw anything from Fields indicative of him being ready to start for Georgia. Upside, yes, but in need of a lot of development.
Will he have a good year this upcoming season? Who knows? Maybe he'll be a great QB. Maybe he'll be a bust. I don't know, but it will be interesting to see whether TOSU got a good deal in the trade.
Go, Dawgs!
First 4 tOSU games are pretty soft. Perhaps even the 5th. Real test is the following week - MichSt
So, early news is not necessarily definitive news as to ykw
Aug. 31 – Florida Atlantic
Sept. 7 – Cincinnati
Sept. 14 – at Indiana
Sept. 21 – Miami (Ohio)
Sept. 28 – at Nebraska
Oct. 5 – Michigan State
Assuming Fields is the starter I'd expect the media to go wild by the second game he plays against a cupcake and not be surprised if he's the preseason Golden Boy.
Will starting against a few cupcakes help Fields or hurt him in terms of his preparation for legitimate opponents?
Go, Dawgs!
it will help him. He needs to be able to get into a rhythm and the cupcakes can help with that. He'll face enough speed and talent in practice to make up for the lack of same in the cupcake games. Plus, I think that offense is a bit easier to digest. He should develop a comfort zone in that first month. before he has to face National Championship coach Scott Frost.
