Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Thanks @PharmDawg2054. Looking forward to listening to all of them this week.
David Allen Coe
greatest songwriter, to me, in country music history
Anyone watching the ACM Awards tonight on CBS?
I remember Take this Job and Shove It on the radio in the '70's, and I've sung along to You Never Even Called Me By My Name many a late night. Will have to check out some more tracks.
Love their latest CD “Mud”. Favorite Whisky Myers songs are the acoustic versions of Hank, Stone, and Trailer We Call Home on YouTube.
Another favorite CD is Shooter Jennings “Put the O Back in Country”.
Chris Stapleton- whoa, good stuff right there.
@tfk_fanboy I could listen to Gangstagrass all day. Thanks for the rec.
At the moment, Stapleton would be my shipwreck artist. Check out Tracy Lawrence and John Anderson though. Oh, add Travis meadows in there as well. This song moves the soul

Stapleton is once and a lifetime though. I would add Travis meadows in there based off his body of work
Jason Isbell lived in Athens for a while when he played with the Drive-by Truckers. If y’all haven’t heard him, you should.
Lady Antebellum has two UGA grads in the group, and the Zac Brown Band has some Dawgs, too, including one of my fraternity brothers, John Driskell Hopkins.
If you like bluegrass, check out Balsam Range. They are fantastic!
I also love Carrie Underwood - for a lot of reasons. My wife knows she’s the only woman I’d leave her for. Haha.
From Australia, Kasey Chambers is good listening. Also Troy Cassar Daley.
Im acquainted with Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont. Not a huge fan of the McClymonts, but I got drunk as hell with her and Adam one night in Nashville and that was fun.
my biggest enjoyment is neoclassical and progressive Bluegrass like AKUS, the Infamous Stringdusters (tightest jam band around), Blue Highway, and Russel Moore.
I feel like a fool for saying this because Zac Brown band has achieved success, but I really thought I would have got into them more. Chicken fried was such a good song, but haven’t really enjoyed much from them after that. I will say, I saw them at a outside event when they started out. It was incredible! Had the stand up base and all.
Oh, the Carrie Underwood thing... I feel like it’s understood by most women. It was literally point 2a in our marriage agreement when my wife and I decided to get married.
Childers is great. If you like him, check our John Moreland and Travis Meadows. Two of the greatest writers I have ever heard. There is also Lucero, The Drive-By Truckers, and Jason Isbell (after he left the Truckers). Finally, don't forget Chris Knight who is from the same general area as Childers. Give "Down the River" and "North Dakota" a listen.
Good to see a youngin listening to real country and not the crap that is on the radio. Florida/Georgia Line? Luke Bryan? Jason Aldeen? Keith Urban? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!
Waylon would roll over in his grave.
Heading to see Jamey Johnson this Friday!
Biff bro, we are on the same page. I mentioned chris knight’s trailer tape earlier. Also, more people should know Travis meadows. Posted a link earlier to one one my favorite songs by him
edit - didn’t know Jamey Johnson had anything new out. Dude was good especially with his black and white album years ago
I'm not a group person, never have been, but listen to some Stapleton.
Should have said artist person. Listen to music, not really concerned with who's singing it
