The Last Sport on Earth I Care About...

greshamdiscogreshamdisco Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

The AJC keeps carrying top shelf articles on the Atlanta Dream. I love college basketball, and I want the Lady Dawgs to do well, but... if no other sport existed, and I was left with the choice between watching the WNBA or a Bette Midler movie, I’m going to be watching Beaches or whatever dribble she’s put on film lately. I just don’t get the WNBA or it’s audience.

What’s your least favorite sport?

Rhythmic gymnastics (ribbon) is pretty pointless. Or bowling and cornhole that ESPN televises.

Tough choice for me. I’d rather just go to the dentist.

My least favorite sport to watch is horse racing on TV. The down-time between races is tough to deal with. I like being at the track, though.

Of the sports I've played, my least favorite sport to play is basketball. It used to be my favorite, but now my old mind forgets that it isn't connected to a young body anymore, so I either twist something playing or just hurt like mad afterword.

I actually paid to see that movie while I was at UGA. There was a female involved though

    Curling. AKA sweeping the ice

Funny, same for me. Same time - in college in Athens. All I remember from the experience were women bawling in the theater and that my girlfriend was too emotional from the movie afterwards to do anything I was interested in. And by “anything,” I mean a certain something. I hold it against Bette Midler to this day.

Curling..."Oooohhh, look at him sweep the ice ahead of that sliding rock!" Captivating...I'd rather watch Senior Citizens play shuffleboard at the home; at least you have a chance to see an argument/fight break out!

I’m not sure why I can’t use the words stu.pid or du.mb on this board, but I can type WNBA without any restrictions. No decency standards worth salt.

To me it don't get much more exciting than watching some Canucks sweep in front of a disk shaped rock while it slowly slides on a sheet of ice.

    WNBA.

Who wants to watch really unattractive women playing really slow basketball? You're all thinking it, so I'm saying it! LOL 😂

Field Hockey. A lot of rules that you would not guess and keeps the girls from being aggressive and the ref continually blowing the whistle and stopping play. So I am the only parent yelling for my daughter to go for it and the other parents are looking at me out of the corner of their eyes.

That was middle school. Then as a Freshman my daughter is sick and gets cut during try outs. So now she and her sisters are in competitive cheer which costs all of our money and sends us traveling all over including Disney World next month, which is another thread I have yet to read but either way I am broke because of field hockey and it is time to pay federal, state, local, and many more kinds of tax. It also causes run on sentences.

C_F. Still, they're not paid to model their uniforms.

curling is great once every 4 years. I love the precision plus we won last year. all the same, I'd go insane if it was on tv year long.

Soooooo..... you really weren't paying for the movie...

Someone could have answered Alliance of American Football last week, but... Maybe I’m being harsh on the Atlanta Dream. Has anyone ever gone to a game? I had a guy try to sell me season tickets once. Once. It was a short conversation. With the purchase, you got some merchandise, to sing the national anthem, and a visit to the local locker room may have been involved.

is it bad when I first read Atlanta dream I thought you were talking about the soccer team?

  • CatfishCatfish Posts: 950 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Basketball. I don't mind a live game once in awhile but the NBA and WNBA just don't intrest me at all. I enjoy March madness though. I hope we'll see the Dawgs in there soon! Go round ball Dawgs, GATA!

Ella Della Donne plays on our same team. That’s a euphemism, in case I’m being too subtle here. 32% of all WNBA players are “out.” I found this out when I Googled her since I had no idea who she is. So, of the two you offer as enticements for me to be interested in the league, we are down to one.

Soccer is my least favorite sport. Might as well watch cross country running on tv. Never understood how people got so excited over a sport where the final score is 1-0. I’ll watch if USA is in the World Cup, otherwise I would watch WNBA all day over any soccer game.

  • DogsNotDawgsDogsNotDawgs Posts: 380 ✭✭✭✭ Senior

I like basketball alright but I cannot watch the end of any game. Too many fouls as the team down uses that as a technique. Can only watch parts of a game.

Ruby Rose isn't interested in my equipment either but that doesn't stop her from being one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my life
