Over harvesting of sturgeon for their eggs led to near extinction and they became a protected species. Evidently, they haven't bounce back as anticipated so caviar is still produced at a relatively low level in the US., keeping it a "rarity". A shame since who doesn't love a fine cracker with caviar before a game?
If caviar isn't your first choice, you might consider sour candy. I'm not much of a hard candy/sour candy person, preferring chocolate almost exclusively. I did love licorice as a kid - not sure where that craving went. Do you have a favorite sour candy? Flavor?

Sour Gummy Bears are the jam. They should come with a warning label because they're so addicting. Same can be said for Sour Patch Kids.
Sour patch kids watermelon is tough to beat
@donm (cannot quote) Below fits. Also, "who doesn't love a fine cracker with caviar before a game?" makes a great poll for DN. 😜
Also, found this. Not caviar, but close.
Don't like caviar, LOVE sour candies! Sour gummie bears are the bomb, and sour hard candy is good as well!
I'm particular to sour gummy worms as well
Shout out to the sour punch straws
I like caviar the few times I've had it. Even though I'm not a big salt person, something about the salt and it's texture on a good cracker was actually pretty good. And I'm sure the alcohol I was drinking helped a lot.
Don't do them anymore, but nothing like a Green Apple Jolly Rancher to put a pucker in the mouth.
I forgot about this. Was it caviar that made Tom Hanks?
