The Foxhound I posted about a couple of days ago was crawling with fleas and they had caused a bacterial infection that made most of her hair fall out and the odor was intense. I took her to my vet the next morning. She gave Brownie several shots and a sack full of meds to take home. Give is not exactly correct, it cost a small fortune.
We bathed her every other day with miconazole, ketoconazole and chlorhexidine anti fungal shampoo for 2 weeks, then every 5 days for another month along with oral meds, then every week for another month. It took around 4 months to get her well but she turned out to be a beautiful young dog once healed. I thought we were getting an old dog and just giving her a decent couple of years, that was 13 years ago. She's snoozing on her baby bed mattress across the room right now.
dawgnms bro, adoption thing is new for me and I will keep my opinion on that to myself so I don’t get yelled at
shoot - here we go, I can spend 1500 -2500 o n a lab that I raise and has a purpose, but like this joint where I adopted a mutt for over 300 after shots etc that I have zero history on....makes me question what’s up
either way the girl seems like a good dog, maybe her purpose is to loving the family... ain’t no gun dog for sure... wife like her, kids like her.... and after me giving her some baths and pulling ticks off her... I like her as well
Two words. Nexgard and Heartgard. She will thank you.
Right on wc bro!
Yup, already got my vet ready to meet her Tuesday
This will also be a great lesson for your daughter in both taking responsibility and doing something good and worthwhile. The return she'll get on her investment will tie it all together.
Congrats and good luck with the new pup. We rescued a Great Pyrness mix 3 weeks ago and so far so good ours is in good shape and our vet gave him a clean bill of health. His name is Zeth and he is 102lbs at 15 months old.
Again best of luck!
Always had Labs bro don't hunt anymore just enjoy them......now for the rescue story, wife decided we should rescue this time around me I wanted to shop around for Lab pups, so off to the Humane Society we went lol. Me I was going to get a puppy regardless no full grown unknown.
Got to talking with one of the staff and he told me they just brought in a Lab with 3 pups 2 months old the night before but they will not belong to them for 5 days. Brought out the only female and we took her. 110.00 bucks and picked her up 5 days later after spaying. She had a uri and 200.00 in vet bills she is healthy and doubled her weight. Last round of shots in 3 weeks and heartworm test at 6 months and done lol.
House is not a home until you have a dawg
Great hear ....
No child should ever grow up without a dog.
Dixie looks like a sweetheart. Good job Dad. .
If your like me then yes she is yours. They all become mine as soon as i bring em home. I literally had to stop doing rescues because I never wanted to rehome after rehabilitation.
Where did you adopt the dog that came with that many ticks all over it?? Poor girl. Thanks for showing her the love. Ivehad my original dog for 5 years and he’s saint. Love of my life. He made me look like a dog whisperer. TURN THE PAGE. Just adopted a dog in January and I can not explain the nightmare it has been. He’s super loving but I think the frustration of training and thousands of dollars spent at the vet for various things we never anticipated on (severe kennel cough + surgery for gastrointestinal obstruction), he’s just become a nuasance. Leash aggression, people aggression, just a madman this guy is. I’m at my wits end. That’s why I’m writing to a bunch of strangers.... ugh. Good luck. Welcome to dawgnation Dixie
What do you mean?
Kinda scary, past few times I've checked out this post I notice a Chewy ad at the top of the page. Probably just me as it's time to reorder another bag of food and they somehow always know.
