Board lingo: Read This

Seeing as how both Brandon and Jeff advertise the board a good bit we’re probably going to keep having new people. Rather than scare them off or have threads cluttered up I thought it might be good to have a thread of general forum lingo, memes, shorthand etc.

Hopefully some quality posters will come online or return in the near future. TOS falsely implies that there are only two boards of value. From a traffic standpoint, this board is no better than third behind Rivals and 247.. From an recruiting and locker room information standpoint, I’m not sure it even ranks third. Likely not. Certainly not with So_Fl no longer posting. From a “knowlegeable about the game of football” standpoint, there are only a small percentage of folks who can break down the game. Can you imagine if Tex, WC, and TLJ were to leave? Now that GeorgiaGirl is seldom seen, there isn’t even one female poster who can talk sports.

What would be nice is some sort of code to let the new folks know “this topic has been discussed a ton already.” Such as the new thread at the top pointing out the open dates our opponents have the week prior. The closer the season gets, the more old stuff will get rehashed. That seemed to be Teddy’s soapbox before his coronation. Maybe he can find his old self.

Do not want to speculate. (Edit) "Speculation" is a fairly recent thing that derives from someone (I think this is factual) actually asked about checking an arrest blotter for a nothing incident involving a UGA player. This followed the several arrests and law issues in early 2019. It has been enhanced lately due to some that are very quick to put a negative spin on anything UGA. Should be in the form of "I do not want to speculate".

"/s" means the comment is meant as sarcasm. Note that some here - me - do not signal their sarcasm routinely. Keep up and most sarcasm won't be a surprise.

Keep up. Fewer detours if one keeps up with the convo. But not much in the way of burns for those that don't.

Internet/social media terminology. There is an expectation that one is familiar with the common expressions and abbreviations. If not, Google is your friend. I have used it often. Urban dictionary is a good source too, if you want to go direct.

(Edit) I do not want to speculate, but @Bankwalker woke up on the wrong side of something. Rivals is purely subscription - I cannot comment. 247sports has most of the blog visible if one registers (I think you must register). Of the recruiting news visible freely it is good, but not consistently better than here. Last week there was an admission that DN had the scoop on 2 things. There is probably more X and O talk (football dynamics) there, but again, not much difference. It has a different tone than here. The posters seem more knowledgeable there - fewer casual fans post. I spend far more time here, but going there now and again is good. There was a ghost thread a while back that was kewl.

@SoFL_Dawg 's absence is a loss, but there are good folks here still. I am very thankful for DawgNation.

Thanks guys. I put Bankwalker on ignore due to his incessant negativity. @JeffSentell has the best recruiting information of anyone anywhere. If Jeff prints it you can take it to the bank. And I have read articles here 2 or 3 days before the same information shows up on TOS. I also don't understand why someone that lists Dawgnation as the worst site around, bothers to read or post at all. @texdawg and @NoahSewellFanClub bring more football knowledge to this site than I've read on other sites. I'm just not getting the attitude.

I believe the CMR Has Lost Control references started on the old DawgPost forum many years ago. If I remember correctly it was about the time Grantham was giving up 30+ points per game while CMR calmly watched the ship sinking.
