Greetings from Stegeman Coliseum. I'm here to cover a game that Georgia needs to win. Check here for regular updates and occasional analysis. Normally I've tweeted, but now with the message board I'll put most everything here. If you care to follow along, please do!

Since officiating has loomed large lately, and in general: Antonio Petty, Jeffrey Anderson and John Higgins are the crew for tonight's game. What does that mean? Petty and Higgins are well known and in fact Higgins was the subject of this story:

Georgia with the same starting lineup as its had throughout SEC play: Freshman Jordan Harris in there along with Frazier, Parker, Maten and Ogbeide.
Also, the Dance Dawgs are performing to "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears. Apparently that song is okay now?
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey is here tonight. That makes for a semi-interesting dynamic after Mark Fox was fairly public about his concern over what happened at Texas A&M ... and Florida.
Fox and Sankey just shook hands and said a brief hello.
As one would expect, a half-filled crowd, if that, here at the Steg for a 9 p.m. mid-week start. But students are out here in pretty much full force.
Mark Fox suit jacket-off point: The start of the game. For some reason he's just not wearing one tonight.
He said on his show Monday night he was not going to wear one for the rest of the season. Looks like the Dawgs are having a cold shooting night.
First media timeout: Alabama 6, Georgia 2.
Georgia has missed five of its first six shots, including two 3 attempts from Frazier. The shots aren't coming easy down low either against Alabama's length. Jordan Harris also has played a bit sloppy.
Georgia's defense has been okay so far, forcing a couple turnovers. It's all about the shots needing to go down now.
Thanks, did not know that.
Tide, led by Key, seem to be dominating the paint early in this game.
Second media timeout: Alabama 13, Georgia 6.
Still cold shooting from Georgia, which is getting open shots outside but just can't hit them. And it's still a struggle inside. Alabama, meanwhile, has 10 of its 13 points inside, so that's the story right now: Points in the paint.
The only thing going right for Georgia is fouls. It's only been called for one, while Alabama already has six. The most predictable thing, given the circumstances.
Looks like they are about to even up the foul count
Alabama 17, Georgia 15, at the 6:56 mark.
Georgia's rebounding problems are a big issue right now, as it just allowed three offensive rebounds and another out-of-bounce save on the same possession. And yet a Maten steal still made it a scoreless possession.
Turtle Jackson is the current hero: He nailed a 3 to begin the run, when Georgia was down 13-6. And he just had a nifty running bank shot to make it a two-point game. But J.J. Frazier isn't playing well, is scoreless and had the ball knocked away from behind on a fast break.
Alabama 28, Georgia 22, with 3:51 left.
It was a 9-point deficit for one possession, but Juwan Parker just nailed a 3 - while an Alabama player down low was being called for a block-out call. So three points plus the ball after the timeout. Alabama has an astounding 16-7 rebounding edge, and Maten has been dominated defensively.
Still, a very worrisome situation for Georgia, which doesn't have an answer for Alabama's low-post offense. And J.J. Frazier remains scoreless.
This is pathetic
Well there's some excitement: Mark Fox gets ejected after two quick technicals. He left the floor to a standing ovation, but his team was trailing by eight with 1:59 left. And after three free throws - Alabama got four shots for two technicals - it's now an 11-point deficit.
Fox went ballistic after a carrying call was made on Jordan Harris. He went out on the court to protest, and didn't let up after official Jeffrey Anderson gave him the first technical.
All this, by the way, with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey on hand.
Former Alabama head coach Phillip Pearson takes over as the coach for the rest of this game.
