One of my all time favs... I had never watched the music video before... Its soooo bad lol. And creepy.
I"M VERY happy they were one hit wonders. Creepy? Yep.
Good list Don. And @ftn49 that was one of my favorites as well. There are so many to choose from, I limited myself to one per decade, from the 60's to the 00's.
"Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum (1969)
"My Sharona" by the Knack (1979)
"Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners (1982) - video below
"Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba (1997)
"Because I Got High" by Afroman (2001)
”If you like piña coladas”
House of the rising sun is a good one also.
Bruce Channel's Hey Baby. Got it (from memory, and..) the April Steven's post I made elsewhere. Stevens and Tempo did a decent version, too, but this was BIG

Technically Dick and Dee Dee weren't one hit wonders (DV okay), but who have heard of Dick and Dee Dee, really? I recall this song very well, but couldn't tell you the artists without some major hints. Great song of 1961: The Mountain's High
"Brandy, You're a Fine Girl" - Looking Glass
"Play That Funky Music White Boy" - Wild Cherry
"I Ran So Far Away" - Flock of Seagulls
"Take On Me" - A-Ha
Man, so many. Keeping it to my time in Athens, a few that jump...
eBn oZn, AEIOU Sometimes Y. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB6iJ4GUkF4 - this is the "band" you got by crossing the aforementioned Soft Cell and Flock of Seagulls.
The Members, Working Girl - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3H4n44V6yw - we partied with these Brits after seeing them in town; we'd all left the show and next thing we know, we're back at our apts and one of our buddies sticks his head in the door and says, "Guys, the bands here, let's party!"
The Joe Boxers - Just got Lucky. They did. Once.
Musical Youth - Pass the Dutchie. Talk about band names that don't age well.
Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance. Possibly the only time a person looks more **** than doing the gator chomp is when they make the "S" with their arms from this video. (the GM of WUOG banned this song from the rotation it was getting so much airplay - everywhere. Not a proud cultural statement.
Falco - der kommissar. Not only did Vanilla Ice (another) pimp Bowie, he kinda pimped this guy
Could go on and on and on...
I'm offended that no one mentioned:
Aldo Nova - Life is Just a Fantasy
The Tubes - She's a beauty
Point Blank - Nicole
Manfred Mann - Blinded by the Light
Till Tuesday - Voices Carry
@DCochran Flock of Seagulls were not a one hit wonder. I ran, Wishing, Space age love song.
"If I had a photograph of yooooouuu
And something to my name.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing."
@texdawg
Let's call The Tubes a 2-hit wonder; Talk to Ya Later made top 10 on the rock charts.
But sadly, they jumped the shark with "She's a Beauty." Quay Lude rolled in his grave when that was released.
Forgot about talk to ya later
@texdawg Good list!
FYI, Til Tuesday lives on through Aimee Mann's music, which is excellent, if you want to check it out. I also thinks she looks even better today than she did back in the '80's.
Good stuff. And I agree completely
Tom Cochrane “life is a highway”
