If any of you plan on buying a new tv for football and you're looking for a bargain..

Relax mod squad, I'm not peddling tvs. It's just that I did a lot of research before buying because I'd busted my budget on converting a storage building into a rec-room.

I ended up buying a Vizio M558-G1 for 498.00 ( now going for 548.00), it's got specs and a picture to match other 55 inch 4K sets going for over twice that. Don't mistakenly buy the M557-G1 though, it goes for about the same yet oddly the 8 has far superior hardware and specs. It has full array, 90 dimming zones, a dedicated processor, 120hz with 360hz quality with it's boosters.

I know the only connection to this site's purpose is the possibility of using it to watch Dawg football but it's such a great deal I decided to share.

Also if you buy be sure to google it's calibration recommendations. It just takes a few minutes and it makes a world of difference from the out of the box picture.

Vizio is a great brand for quality at a fair price. I bought a used D55u-D1 for 300$ back in 2017 and I've enjoyed many a dawg game on it. My only complaint is that the smart tv software is old and the selection is limited on my model. How is it on the M558?

What kind of hardware info are you talking about and where did you find it?

I tend to lean towards TCL TV's because of the native Roku OS, price, and reviews they receive. I'm curious to compare hardware specs on them though.

Vizio has always been the best bang-for-your-buck brand IMO.

I have a 55" Vizio in the bedroom. No complaints at all.

65" Samsung 8-series in the living room. I'm a sucker for HDR these days. Granted, you do pay a premium for it.

Visio makes a quality tv for the price. I have two 55" Visio's. Right now I'm looking at an 82" from Samsung for the media room.

I went with two 65 inch p series vizio’s for the house awesome quality. They have the smart home applications built in. Couldn’t be happier. They have multiple picture displays to choose from. The vivid setting is the max setting and it is very bright, takes a little bit to get use to.

step that so many skip. you can get a tv 90% as good as a professional calibration yourself using online guides

I have bought two Hisense smart TV's from Walmart. They are priced great and have been amazing for the wife and I. I have no complaints about them.

I’ve had the same dynex I got from Best Buy in 2011. Granted I don’t have too high standards but for what I’ve paid and the length I’ve had it, pretty satisfied.

I google specs and the model number of the tv or other device I'm researching. A very good tool is RTings.com as well. They test tvs and rate them. If you check out their ratings for the Vizio 558-G1 you'll see a lot of scores of 8 and higher. That is insanely good in this price range. It outscores the TCL 6 series in almost every area.

The 558-G1 uses the Chromecast platform and it doesn't directly support the Spectrum app so I had to buy a Roku Premiere for 40 bucks to download into. I have to use the Roku remote when I'm watching most broadcast tv.

FYI. I just looked at RTings.com and they show the Vizio M series having a 8.1 overall rating compared to CTL's 6 series' 8.0. What you should notice is they used the 557 not the 558 in testing. The 8 has 90 full array dimming zones vs just 20 for the 7. It also has a high grade processor and several other upgrades over the 7. The full array dimming zones give you a far better picture quality.
