Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

This is one of my favorite youtube performances. Kings of Leon burned bright for a brief moment but flew too close to the sun.
On this track, I love the bass loop, the mouth guitar, the drummer's personality, the keyboardist holding it all together, Caleb Followill's voice, and the hot chick(s) in the front row.
I use a recorder flute to call my dogs back in from my back 40. Works like a charm. I'm not one to holla at my dogs to come home.
Nice.
Yeah, I just discovered those guys last weekend. Jam band maximus but have some really cool stuff
Ha, that's funny.
Kinda the same thing with Mumford & Sons
If you're young and never heard of Joni Mitchell I invite you to explore her brilliance. Rick Beato last week released a new "What Makes This Song Great?" breakdown of Joni's phenomenal song entitled 'Amelia'. Rick gets a little emotional at the end, which is pretty cool.
Some outstanding Jazz musicians on this song.
Why Sting is uncopyable. Great video by Rick Beato.
@AnotherDawg - I'm a huge fan of Dzihan & Kamien. There's actually two versions of this tune, one with lyrics (Rap) and this instrumental. I really like the groove in this tune.
Emancipator is probably a bit more well known then some of the other stuff I post. This is off their new release called 'Mountain of Men'. Very good album to kick back to or listen while working.
This song helped me get through the toughest time in my life, a few years back.
Son Volt - Tear Stained Eye
@Casanova_Flatulence I finally got around to watching that Sting video you posted. Really great.
For the record, I loved The Police but I never quite warmed to Sting as a solo artist. However, I fully appreciate his musical genius, and I can listen to Beato all day. Thank you for posting the video.
And thanks for this thread, @Bulldawg1982.
I often wrongly assume everyone is familiar with the same music I am, and then I run into someone like Casanova. I don't know any of the bands or songs he posts, so I guess it's safe to say some of my stuff may be unknown to him and likely many others.
With that in mind, here is one of my all time favorite songs. Presented in its original composition and in the (now more widely known) cover.
The song is Such Great Heights. Ben Gibbard wrote it. He was the lead singer of Deathcab for Cutie and one half of the Postal Service. Sam Beam covered it and he is better known by the stage name Iron & Wine.
Lastly, part of the reason I'm posting this is because the two versions are so different stylistically, and folks on this thread have such a wide range of tastes. I'm guessing Casanova will prefer the original, while I prefer the cover. I'm willing to bet most everyone out there will like one or the other. Hopefully. Maybe.

Ben Gibbard sucks
😉
ive been overserved tonight. Don’t mind me
@AnotherDawg I'm not a fan of modern country music, because so much of it seems like a cliche to me, but I like this song, because it's simple, has powerful lyrics and exudes authenticity.
Great photos of the dust bowl exodus. It's hard to believe that happened, but it did and caused a lot of hardship.
