Long time Cult fan, also enjoy Ian working with The Doors
One of the best shows I've ever seen was them at their height with Metallica on the Justice For All tour at Lakewood.
Still the best concert I've ever been to. Had 5th row seats there. Stayed up all night with a friend and went to turtles in Douglasville to get tickets. We were the first people there and ended up 2nd in the lottery. Suc.ked the next day at work but was worth it. Just can't remember if that was the show Metallica had Glen Danzig on stage with them or if it was the first And Justice For All show at the Omni with Queensryche. Both were good shows but the Lakewood show was a lot better.
First saw Metallica a couple of months before Cliff’s death. Good show even with James having a cast on his arm from a skateboard crash.
The Cult crushed it, was the Electric album & Metallica was mind blowing. We left from Savannah at the crack of dawn, partied in the parking lot of Lakewood all day & the pharmaceutical party favors kicked in right as Metallica came on.
I'll never forget it & yet can barely remember it at the same time..
This turned up on YouTube random play last night....bada$$ These guys are still mega-stars in Europe & if you've never seen their unplugged in Greece it's worth a test drive
Great band and very underrated. Ian had a fantastic voice. They were kind of caught in a time warp. By the time they really hit it big, hair bands were succumbing to the Grunge scene.
Played this vinyl the other night. Great retro and good listening.....for us Old Farts..
How did this drop so far down?
Those things were revolutionary when they first came out - still some of the best headphones I've ever used.
How did you get my iPod (?!)
Saw them on the Love & Electric tours - great band...the latter was when they opened for Billy Idol during his Whiplash Smile tour. Billy got a bit carried away and wound up getting arrested for public indecency when he exposed himself during the encore.
Particularly loved the Love album because Mark Brzezicki filled in on drums for Nigel Preston who broke his hand right before they started recording. What a career he's had - Big Country obviously but has also played for so many great artists: Cult, Procol Harum, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend, Ultravox, Frida (of Abba) and the Pretenders...huge influence for me as a young drummer.
