The playoff expansion is a very good thing for Georgia as it stands now, but the more dominating we become, you get to win the prize after just 2 games. What have y'all got to say?

Expand it to 64 and be done with it.

Since the beginning of the CFP, the SEC has had at least one playoff contender. The year the SEC had two contenders was when UGA won the SEC and the committee thought Bama was one of the four best teams that year. The committee of course was correct as Bama won the NC. The winner of the SECCG has always been one of the four teams selected. The SECCG has become a play in game to reach the CFP. This is reasonable in many ways as the SEC has won 4 of the 7 championships.

Given the difficulty of Kirby winning the SEC, his position on expansion seems logical even if it appears a bit self serving. It does raise an interesting question. No matter if the CFP is expanded to 6 or 8 teams, would a two loss SEC team be selected over a team with only one loss.

The other consideration that seems to be missing from this is what happens to the bowl games. Right now for many people they have become less interesting and important. You can see this even in the players at some schools who op out of playing. This does not mean there will not be bowls because ESPN is at this point willing to write a big check so they will have something to program.

As I have previously stated, I think the better solution is to revert back to only two teams.

I am cautious about expanding it to big, don't want to water down the value of the season. I would like to see a 10 team playoff. However, the top four seeds have automatic bids to the championship series. 5 & 6 gets a bye in week 1 of the playoff series, 7 plays 10 and 8 plays 9. Then 5 play the winner of 8 & 9 and 6 play the winner of 7&10. Then the winning 2 teams advance to the championship series in which 1 & 2 gets the round 1 bye.

Pretty complicated. Easier would be 8. Champions from power 5 conferences and 3 at large, which could include an undefeated non-power 5 conference champion, a power 5 conference runner up with one loss, etc. Expand just enough to include some of those who have been unjustly left out. With 8 teams, you only have 3 games postseason.

Gotta be 8, not 6. It's not an even playing field when one team plays 1 less game and gets to rest extra, 8 keeps it even.

Exactly! It matters that much more late into the season too with overall conditioning/health & depth.
