I agree mix it up even when we are way ahead.

I never forgot Beck and look forward to watching his success.

Yep, I'm certainly rooting for Beck to get at least a bunch of playing time. He needs to be in there every game he can be. If he loses the job to Vandagriff, no hard feelings on transferring, but if he's not given a chance then we may regret it.

Stars and ratings for kids is kinda silly, but even so claiming all 3 as 4-stars may be technically correct, but the rankings are this:

    • Beck: 250th best player [2020]
    • Vandagriff: 16th best player [2021]
    • Stockton: 41st best player [2022]

Vandagriff is a 5-star on all boards while Stockton is a 4-star on 247 and 5-star on Rivals. Beck, on the other hand is a fairly low 4-star (3 stars start at #374). But again, numbers really don't tell the whole story: some QBs do far better while some just fizzle out.

Either way, look forward to hopefully seeing Beck out there in games WITH Vandagriff too. I hate to state it like this, but if it comes to keeping Vandagriff or Beck from transferring, you make sure Vandagriff doesn't leave. Otherwise, we'll get the whole Fields drama again.

I think that Beck's the guy. With the schedule we've got, he should be getting a lot of playing time to hone his game. I hope that this will be Monken's decision to make.

I'm not sleeping on this kid. He continues to do everything right, and he has a big arm. He lost his 5star rating his Senior year, after winning the 6A title in Florida the year before. The team graduated around him and he spent his Senior year running for his life.

Personally believe that he will be the starter in 2022.

Let's face it all of our QB's could make a video like this with the same caption. This dude is "slinging it." I'm sure D'Wan could "sling it." What counts is when you're under the gun and a lineman smacks you and you say "hit me again" and then lead your team for the win as the clock is running out.

Or you move your team down the field and you are in striking range, you throw a pass to the end zone and it's dropped by your receiver, you do it again on 2nd down and it's dropped again at the goal line, and then on third down you throw a dart as you dodge a DL and your receiver catches it for a TD. That happened.

Hopefully we will have several blowouts after the Clemson game and Beck, Bennet, and Brock will get some good looks. I think we already know what we have in Bennet, his ceiling isn't that high. But with the other two, there's is really high.

First, I disagree with the title of this article. Don't make it seem that he is truly forgotten. Everyone knows who he is and what he's capable of. Don't throw shade where shade doesn't need to be thrown. Don't need his parents or relatives looking at this and saying HEY, they forgot about you... lets go somewhere that people will remember you.

I hope that we see a lot of our back-up QB's this year as that will mean we are clearly taking care of business. I also hope we use that time to allow guys like Beck to come in and actually run the offense just as we would in a tie game rather than just hand the ball off every down. Kirby talks about making every minute count in the process of improving the team. It's not running up the score when you're doing it with back-ups. These guys practice all week, so let them show what they have when they come in the game. You don't learn a whole lot about the next man up if he is only handing the ball off.

100% agree. we need to get back to that 2017 team style where we covered almost every spread and could put the backups in. This time though they need to run the offense instead of hand the ball off. It will help this year (in case of injury) and next year (when the upperclassmen graduate/move on).

The schedule surely sets up to allow this to happen. Daniels and Bennett came in as mostly fully developed and only needed to learn the offense. Next year Monken will earn his money by have to develop a new starter. Depending on how successful he is will go a long ways in determining if he should be classified as a genus.

"I think about Georgia’s blowout win over South Carolina last year when the Bulldogs turned over the game to fourth-string tailback Daijun Edwards for the final 10 minutes. That would’ve been a great opportunity to work on the passing game, and get some yards (and playing experience) for the team’s receivers, as opposed to running out the clock."

Connor, I couldn't agree more! Gotta stop taking the foot off our gas pedal. Some may not like it, but we live in an "Optics" era and you don't impress the ESPN talking heads without putting up numbers. As long as the main objective of winning remains the focus might as well light up the scoreboard.

yes the schedule does, the question is will Kirby allow the full offense to be run. I'm dubious...

"Gotta stop taking the foot off our gas pedal. " That never bothered Steve Spurrier, that's for sure.

@Kasey that is an excellent question. The position Kirby might find himself in could be a no win situation. If does not run the entire offense with the second unit it impedes their growth. If he does run the entire offense and they continue to score he faces the criticism of running up the score. It is going to be a fine line to navigate.
