I'd say BJ is 70/30 likely if we push
BWAHAHAHAHA!
Does anyone on the right side of crazytown seriously think Tennessee has already "built their offense?" That is absolutely hilarious.
Class of 2020 defensive back Javier Morton has been committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide for over a year.
“It’s pretty solid right now, but my recruitment is still open," Morton said. "Right now, I like Bama, and I’m locked in.”
However, that has not stopped the Georgia Bulldogs from pursuing heavily the Rivals 250 cornerback.
“I met Coach [Dell] McGee at a high school 7-on-7 they had at UGA. I always talk to him when I get up there, but I’m always talking to Kirby Smart, too," Morton said. "Coach Smart and I just talk. It’s a lot of talking, and he’s really cool. He’s a real cool coach. I went up there a few times and stayed, because I know a lot of people who play up there. We text, and we’re in contact a lot.”
Unlike some, the lure of remaining in the Peach State isn't that strong with Morton.
“Staying home isn’t a problem for me. I feel that wherever I go is best for me," he said. "My parents will make sure they’re there or even if they’re watching it on TV. They’ll be supporting me.”
Still, the 6-foot-1, 187-pound defender isn't writing off the Bulldogs, even with a change at the defensive backs spot.
“[Mel Tucker] recruited me initially at cornerback, but him leaving didn’t really affect the relationship with Georgia," Morton said. "Now, they’ve got a new guy who’s filling in and he played there, Coach [Bacarri] Rambo. He came up to my school the other day. He’s cool, and we’re tight already. He told me about all his records and all of that, and I Googled him and pulled it all up. Knowing he did all that at his size, I mean, it’s crazy. Then, he came to recruit me, and I like him.”
But the Tide will not be easy to knock off by any stretch.
“Originally, I’d always wanted to go to Oregon, but when you realize what they’ve got at Alabama and go up there, they’re serious guys. What stands out about Alabama is that they’re going to tell you what’s real and what’s going on," Morton said. "Other schools want to show you what’s good, because they’re trying to pull you in. Coach [Nick] Saban keeps it one-hundred. He’s a coach, too. On the field, he’s not your friend. Even off the field, he’s barely your friend. It’s just the way he is, and I like it. He makes sure everyone stays out of trouble.”
Morton is also well aware of the success of players in Tuscaloosa.
“It’s just the players he recruits. They recruit the best, but they also build up their players. I’ve seen that a lot. I feel like he could do that," he said. "He’s also getting them out of school in three years, and that’s what I’m chasing. I want to be out in three.”
As for his own game, Morton did not hold back regarding what he brings to the field.
“Aggressive. Killer mentality. Things aren’t friendly on the field. We’re all cool, but on the field, we don’t know each other. I don’t go to camps, so I feel like I’ve got a lot to prove," he said.
“I would say Georgia leads now,” Seither told Dawgs247. “Just the culture and the environment here. The visit went great. Everything stood out to me. The facilities were obviously great and the campus was beautiful.”
Things are beginning to pick up on chatter again. Kirby had it on lock down. Final close, I’m hearing 4 spots (have to figure who’s out currently on team).
Elam
Pickens
Seither
Best available MAR/Cross
This would be amazing close. Anything after Elam is gravy imo. Getting Pickens in and qualified would be the biggest coup this cycle from those west schools, surpassing Webb. I’ll be honest, I’ll go against the grain here, I’m not that high on MAR. What I’ve seen in person doesn’t excite me considering the comp he plays, but I’m confident staff can find away to maximize him under Coley. My only thing is using him for screens, seems Cook would be upgrade there imo. Lastly Cross. Staff is still in constant communication. It is believed staff could flip Cross without him coming back on campus. There are rumors Cross tried to flip to us at end of Nov, staff wasn’t prepared to take based on #’s, and Cross decided to stick with FSU at the time. This is around timeline where Cross took solo visit to FSU, to have in person discussions with that staff, in which many believed he would decommit face to face. Obviously, that didn’t happen. I share that to say we’re in it deeper with Cross than believed since Nov., and if it comes down to Cross/MAR, count me in the camp for Cross. Going to be a fun few weeks, enjoy!
Any update on chances that Pickens qualifies or is it about the same?
I haven’t heard anything more on that since Dec. I’ve read what y’all have; he’s progressing and he’s not doing what he needs to. Bottom line, no interviews during/immediately after visit. I’m told his family, total of 5 we’re in Athens. Twitter bio updated with UGA in background but still silent. If staff is in this deep, they must feel good about him qualifying. Maybe a summer type deal but we have to like the chances looking at how tight #’s are. If there was no chance, I’m sure we’d pass completely. Kirby has proved that he moves in silence on big news. The chatter is this is the next big news to drop.
Real G’s move in silence like lasagna
If you can find the 02 version of him, let me know.
What is your opinion on #s? @Denmen185 I think it was broke down the roster to find how many scholarships were left somewhere on here. He came up with 2-3. Is there more attrition coming? I'm always confused. Haha
I heard 4 this morn. I do believe that IF Pickens qualifies he’ll be a late summer add. This is one of those things that no one will know for sure until it happens. I think minimum will be 3, but I’ll trust the source who is saying 4. If not, someone likely didn’t choose us or didn’t qualify.
02-08 was peak TBH.
Would Pickens Blueshirt like JRP?
No. You cannot blueshirt if you take an OV. Grayshirt we could never sell to a player like Pickens, and you typically see that tag following injury situation. Just have to hope the kid and his support group understand the task at hand in qualifying and he takes advantage of it. If not, unfortunately for all he won’t be in class.
