How Ohio State neutralized Jalen Carter, despite Georgia star playing career-high snaps
ATHENS — Ohio State lost the war against Georgia but won the battle of neutralizing the Bulldogs’ most dominant defender on Saturday night.

The answer to the headline is:
holding, holding, holding
Beat me to it lol
Yeah, when what MG is describing took place, the Oline would have to change the direction they were blocking our line and when doing so they were holding like crazy.
common occurrence when the qb scrambles. We gotta hope that it’s not another pac12 set of refs. Them boys were horrible, no illegal touching on Harrison jr. No 12 men on the field on the fake punt.
smh
Hit the Portal MG. Ohio a good destination,. And take some proof reading classes will you. Your typos are annoying and unprofessional in your position.
@MikeGriffith
Your article is lazy as he11 and cherry picks throughout.
You begin your article with the words “neutralize” and “Jalen Carter”, yet not one sentence gives the entire story or even a part of the entire story that was the semifinal game between UGA and OSU.
I do not have a degree in journalism. However,I did attend and graduate from a public 4 year state university, occasionally stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, and also served honorably defending our country in the military for over 20 years, and your narrative and half-baked articles like this one are ridiculous.
Every once in 25 or so posts you put up articles that are complete and thorough and a layman can easily tell that you put some time and effort into it; but THIS is NOT IT.
As a reporter, sports genre or otherwise, shouldn’t you make at least a tiny effort to report on both sides of a story and allow the readers to make up their minds from there about ultimately what you are writing about?
How many hurries did Jalen Carter have in the game where you write he was “neutralized”?
How many times did JC get held by O lineman that wasn’t called by the referees?
I got one for you: DID YOU EVEN WATCH the game for a second or third time since New Year’s eve? I bet you didn’t!
How many pressures did other defensive lineman have due to JC being double teamed? How many times was JC double teamed or chipped at the LOS?
I tell you what, Mike, you are lucky that the AJC has almost a monopoly on reporting and access to our Georgia BULLDAWGS, because if they didn’t, you and most of Dawg Nation would either A)Be out of a job, or B) Not be reporting on the Georgia BULLDAWGS.
That’s all I got for you, sir.
Be better.
✌️
Mike Griffith, don't let the door hit you on your way back to the B10.
Amen !!! Holding, Holding, Holding !! Uncalled by the Refs !! Look I know there’s a certain amount of Uncalled holding by Both Teams in pretty much Any game. The Refs are human their not gonna catch em all. But the game vs OSU was obscene they missed so many holding calls on OSU !! I even read where fans from other teams saw it !! I said Before the game that there was Two things I hoped for 1) That the Refs would call a fair and impartial game for Both teams.2) That OSU didn’t try to deliberately injure Carter’s ankles to take him out of the game out of desperation. To their credit they didn’t try to do that to the best of my knowledge. OSU was called for holding Once the entire game. There were At Least eight other times they were Not called. I sure Hope the Refs are Fair and Impartial to Both UGA and TCU in the Natty !! Neither team needs help from the officials !!
I’m sorry, the article misspelled “holding”.
JC88 wasn't just held, he was TACKLED. For those of you who don't know, that is AGAINST the rules.
I saw Jalen Carter tackled by the ANKLES and that's Just one example.
As Brooks Austin said, "Jalen Carter was tackled more than CJ Stroud".
I know holding calls get missed on both teams, but I will submit this to the folks who question UGA's ability to get sacks or who rant about our DBs inability to cover: when plays are artificially extended due to missed holding calls, I don't care how care how good a DB is, 5-7 seconds gives a good receiver a chance to get open; Georgia's DL has been held all year for anyone who has been paying attention...the Rburn and Mizzou games come to mind.
If people wonder how such a dominant DL like Georgia's is unable to get sacks, go back and look how they were held in games where those penalties weren't called.
An Alabama fan said that it happens every game and to get over it. I replied with: "So if Oatis were TACKLED, you'd be okay with it?" I guess that woke him out of his stupor because he finally understood that I wasn't just talking about random holding, but TACKLES like the way Roquan was tackled in the 3rd quarter of the NCG in 2017.
You expect the officiating to be better than the WWE.
Living in Florida I watched the game with some dreaded Gator fans. They came for New Year's fun and real football. I heard some yell out holding several times.
