I find it hard to believe that money is the determining factor. If you are a 5 star player then college is not your final football goal .You want the college program to develop you into an NFL player period . Money with a bottom feeder program and the player could lose millions .

Free market Capitalism has finally found College Football...and, turned it upside down. For now. Due mainly to the fact, the NCAA was able to avoid dealing with it, for so long. Don't get me started on the NCAA. Dumping it all at once, with no planning or strategy in place, was incompetent at best...and, an expected "shock to the entire system"...as all unplanned change, is.

The internet and gaming industry created a whole new "pocket of money" that wasn't being equitably disbursed...players rightfully (IMO) wanted their due and laid claim...most coaches and fans agreed , and wanted to give it to em...but didn't know how to do it legally. And, a couple of decades later...here we are.

CFB and the NCAA will find true north, in time. Once the 12-Team CFP Format kicks in, things'll start settling out.

As with all things on the market...supply and demand will eventually find balance. In the end...there will be those that learned to cope and make the best of it, during these uncertain times...and, those that found another "reason to fail".

Guarantee you...Kirby and Nick are in the former group. And, for all his blather...so is Kiffin, IMO. In fact, I'd say most, if not all, of the SEC's coaches, seem to have a pretty good handle on how they want to use the NIL/TP., Personally, I like Kirby's approach.

Seriously, Kirby hit this whole thing, perfect...with a solid program in place before 2020. I would hate to be the coach "trying" to build one like it, right now. He's way ahead of the game, which is why he's only taken a handful of guys off the wire, over the last few years...and, only actually using 2 or 3 of em. And, he didn't REALLY need them.

They were considered "Dawg Insurance". Derion Kendrick may have been the best of the bunch and he's been gone for 2 years. Kirby hasn't needed to bring in a Jamyr Gibbs or To'to or Williamson. It would be nice to have em, but, not necessary.

The way I see it.....you either have a self-sustaining, player-led program, like Kirby Smart's....OR...you are building one, accepting the losses and growing pains that come with it....OR....you attack the portal each year, looking to strike gold, and achieve a "One-And-Done" (like Auburn).

I wonder how Dabo is dealin' with it. He was one of the most vocal against NIL/TP. Where has he been, anyway. Haven't heard his name mentioned in a couple of years. Lol

I'm pretty familiar with the academics at both Georgia and Ole Miss, as well as both Athens and Oxford as college towns. I can't say I have much insight to the football culture at Ole Miss, but I can compare Georgia's now to Georgia over the past 40 years. Kids who fit today's Georgia culture and have designs on playing pro ball, plus have done a little homework on the schools and cities, are exactly why there is a huge gap between Georgia's current recruiting and gridiron success and Ole Miss'... or just about any other college football program right now. Go Dawgs!

To answer your question about whether Kirby could win a championship at Ole Miss... I wouldn't rule it out because Kirby would eventually create a similar culture with plenty of allure, including assembling a top-notch staff, and eventually winning over the university's financial support (and all that goes with that). But Memphis ain't no Atlanta (diverse opportunities and boosters), and the initial recruiting foundation of homegrown talent in the state of Georgia is far better than Mississippi... so it'd be a tough row to hoe. But again, you can bet they'd be plenty competitive, more so under Kirby after 5 years than Kippin after 5 years. And for some reason I can't imagine Kirby blaming his standing on being outbid by his competitors. Go Dawgs!

Many have tried at Ole Miss, over the years. I'm not sure anybody would be able to sustain success with the Rebs. They haven't, so far.

Lane Kiffin, appears to be a "one foot out the door", type of Coach, at Mississippi. I think he's biding his time, to allow Freeze to get Auburn's "talent pool", up to standard...then he's going to swoop in and take over where Freeze left off after the War Eagles next round of firings. If Freeze doesn't produce, fairly quickly, he's a short term answer, to a long term problem.

UGA, Bama, and LSU are in a different place, altogether...than any other SEC Team, right now...with their established Programs in autopilot. All three have stockpiled talented "players, coaches and administrators".

And, I don't see that changing anytime soon....barring Smart's, Saban's and/or Kelly's, retirement. There's a few other teams with excellent Coaching Staffs, Talent and/or AD's closing the gap...such as Tennessee, Kentucky, S. Carolina, A&M and Arkansas.

I'll go ahead and throw FLA & AUB in there, as a possible "one-and-done" candidate over the next 5 years...as they have been over the previous 100 years. Lol. Unstable Coaching Staffs, Boosters, Fans and Athletic Departments make those two teams hard to read.

But, I definitely don't think they will ever be able to build a "Bama/UGA Style" of Football Program at those two particular institutions...mainly, due to the instability in all the areas, previously mentioned. AUB will get another Cam Newton or Bo Jackson one day...and, BAM!..."back in the money". IF...they don't forget how to play "Defense", that is.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from Vanderbilt. I'm pulling hard for those guys to be competitive.. and, IMO, they're gonna surprise some people, this year. They could be "Bowl"ing in the fast lane for a change, in '23. Lea, is a helluva Coach in my opinion. They will, however, need a little luck to get-by on their shallow roster...but, they HAVE talent.

Got nothin' to say about the rest of em. I guess any Team can catch lightening in a bottle...and win a Natty, in any given year. And, IMO...that's exactly what AUB, FLA, Ole Miss, Miss St and Mizzou are gonna have to do to win the Big 'un.

As for the "Sustained Superior Performance" (SSP) we are baring witness to, here in Athens...Natty or Not...I'll take THAT all day long. With SSP...the wins will accumulate and the Trophies will mount. You gotta love football.
