That would be my guess….not sure though….
Just read on USA Today - the Brewers will be the # 3 seed and The Padres (the top WC team) will be the # 4 seed. Ergo, if both Braves and Mets get in, the Braves, by virtue of the tie-breaker, will be # 5 and Met's # 6. That means the Braves would get the lower ranked of the 2 opponents, that being the # 4 ranked Padres. The Brewers get the higher ranked opponent, the # 3 ranked Brewers. Me, I think the Padres are much stronger than the Brewers, so that's not an ideal scenario.
I still need to figure out what happens if we sweep the DH. That would put the Diamondbacks in instead of the Mets. Their record is better than ours, so maybe that would put us at # 6 and we'd get the Brewers? I'm getting a headache now - talk later.
EDIT: Headache is better now. Diamond backs lost tie breaker to both Mets and Braves and can only go in (if they make it all) as the # 6 seed - so we'll face Padres no matter what. Crapola.
Its Braves Padres unless the Braves lose them both. No way around it.
Wish you could have posted this before I had my headache!! 😉
Braves get Padres if they get in as they finish #5. #6 will be Mets/DBacks who face the #3 Division winners (Brewers). Braves have tie breaker over both Mets and DBacks.
If we win Game 1 no way Sale pitches Game 2.
They might give some effort. The Dback sure hope so. But it wont be Sale pitching.
Gotta save him for Game 1 in San Diego.
I get nervous about Schwelly. He's pitched so good, but the Mets have seem him a good bit. Plus, is he due for a down game? He's still a rookie. I guess have baseball Munson-itis too.
At the end of the 5th inning, the Braves are ahead 2-0—Apparently Ozzie hit a two run homer!
Schwellenbach has 5 K's and only allowed 3 hits with two outs in the top of the sixth!
Go Braves!
Up three and need 9 outs. Looking good
4-3 Mets. They probably just blew Game 1
Albies three run double. 7-6 Bravos.
Unbelievable.
Oh nooooo!
Final: 8-7 Mets………
Unreal. 6 run 8th inning. They take the lead only to blow it in the 9th.
Kind of felt like the Georgia game.
Braves win!
3-0 on a gem pitched by Holmes after a Sales scratch!
17th shutout by the Braves this year……leads the National League!
Gio and Marcel with the three RBIs!
Now onto San Diego!
Never a doubt 😂
