I did notice that Kirby became our DC in the waning minutes of the game while Schumann looked on as an observer.

Good on ya, Mike. Excellent info. Just to appease my curiosity, was that an audible Beck called setting up the 8th OT play? I thought Bobo sent that Frazier call in? Just wondering is all. I know in my heart the Dawgs won that game…they did not survive it.

Well done Mike. This is the best piece you've written in a long time. Great perspective.

Great article Mike. Kirby's calm demeanor during the overtimes was impressive. The players were in it until the last second. One other takeaway, comparing Kirby's embracement of Brent after the game to watching Ryan Day only look on as his players fought at midfield. UGA, a class act compared to an embarrassment to all of college football.

BOOM!!! Mike, you may have just written your masterpiece for the year. I have dogged you so many times, it is likely unfair to count them but you have changed my mind. I do not mind you taking Georgia to task for bad play or for whatever transgressions…..if all programs were held to the same standard, I would likely not complain at all.

But this, this is a masterpiece. Thank you.

And, moral victories are not for UGA, UT, or UA. They are for teams like GT! Sadly, they will always have that inferiority complex, whether winning or losing. Just look at their dumpster of a campus! The State of Georgia school is UGA and it will never be GT.

haha cry cry cry. “We dont worry about tech anymore” yet you had to write an article because everyone is talking about Tech and not the dogs. You can't stand it. The heroes of that game were the Refs. And they were just like the refs helped Bama beat uga right? Y'all were complaning all last year that the refs helped Bama.

Excellent article, Mike. Most on the outside have spent all their time telling us how bad our Dawgs have been this year, "barely" winning most games and going 8OTs with an "average" Tech team…they ignore (or don't know) some of the subtle nuances you shared in your article. This team is not built to blow out anyone, really and I have no problem continuing forward and "barely" winning the national championship. I would love to blow out everyone the rest of the way and maybe, at full strength, we could be that team, but with all the lost games to injuries and suspensions, I think we are what we are at this point…the defense picks up the offense when they are having a bad day and vise-versa.

I am proud of the coaches, players and staff that, despite all the nay-sayers, have our team exactly where we wanted to be on day 1 - in Atlanta playing for the SEC championship and a first round bye.
