Having Beck would not have made a difference! Gunner didn't lose this game. The left tackle and the defense lost this one!

Hate the Big 'How Many' all you want but ND will not beat Penn State and Texas better hang on to their hats against OSU! The Ohio State team is definitely the one to beat!

Wasn’t saying having Beck would have changed the outcome. We have no way to know. Stockton did a very good job. My comment was in regards to the bad pre-halftime decisions and the consequences.

And defense did not lose this. They gave up 3 field goals, 2 on a short field. The touchdowns are on the coaching, offense and special teams. The defense is why we still had a chance.

Georgia needs a serious coaching refresh on the offensive side. All of the O coaches, with the exception of Hartley, should go. No more hire your best childhood buddy (Bobo) or recruiters who can't coach (Searels and Coley). Try to get Faulkner back from Tech, Luke from Clemson. Almost anyone would be an improvement.

Of course having your starting QB would have made a difference, Stockton looked confused at times and the lack of experience showed. The lack of red zone scoring was glaring in this game tonight.

I was very impressed with Stockton's long throws…he seemed to have a better deep ball then Beck.

  • 87dawg87dawg ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

No, Beck hit his deep receivers. The difference in this game was Arian Smith caught the ball. Stockton played well overall but let’s not have a revisionist view.

I agree about the having Beck part. If the O Line whiffed on Beck as bad as they did Gunner I’m not so sure Beck would have fared allot better. Beck has the experience edge, but he’s not as mobile as Gunner. So it might be a **** for tat type thing. Our O Line was really really bad tonight !! Not only did they fail badly in protecting Gunner they were abysmal at making holes for our RBs.

Our Defense kept us in the game for a time but I think two things happened: 1) As the O couldn’t sustain drives they got gassed2) And this is worse I think they actually loss their morale, they saw the hand writing on the wall.

Gunner had a very solid game, No not perfect by any stretch but solid. He had little to no support from the O Line, and there was little to no running game to fall back on. Beck might have done a smidgen better out of just pure experience, but with the utterly shoddy O Line play I don’t think he’d have done leaps and bounds better. Those ND defenders would have been eating him alive just like Gunner, as he doesn’t have the level of mobility possibly even more so than Gunner. The O Line in particular among Several components of tonight’s Dawgs team Failed.
But Hey it was a good ride they won the SECCG and at least made it to the playoffs. Go Dawgs !!

Going forward two things need to happen and I’m not sure Either will happen. Just my opinions. 1) Some Coaching changes need to take place on Offense. 2) Kirby needs to dip in the portal and find the absolute best WRs that he can get to come to UGA. The Big $$$ folks in Athens need to pony up some Big $$$ !! Other programs Seem to ge out NILing UGA. With more and better NIL $$$ you Keep guys from wanting to hit the portal and you draw guys From the portal. But let’s face it you have to feed Em $$$. That’s the new face of CFB. It is what it is.

Yall know in preseason Most of us including Me was touting the O Line. Man we’re gonna have a Great O Line this year !! But then Nope we all saw the gross inconsistency all season long. Tonight the O Line was Terrible.

Yall these are Experienced 4 and 5 star players. Conclusion it Has to be coaching !! So Kirby can Hope that Searls will get smarter but that’s probably not gonna happen. Or he can go out with some of that Big $$$ I feel UGA certainly has and reel in a premier O Line Coach maybe even a former NFL coach. Please see my next comment on this same line of thought.

WRs. There’s some who say Well their not much quality to begin with. I’ll buy that up to a point. Yep there’s some merit in that. BUT the Dawgs lead all of CFB in drops, they can’t get separation if you built a wall between them and the defender and they can’t run routes if it was painted on the field for Em.

So they can’t be Coached Up ANY At All ?? None ?? Even a tiny bit better ?? Nah. I think they CAN be Coached Up at least some. The WRs Coach is Failing Miserably.

Now for a little What IF ?? What If Kirby/UGA went out and got themselves a premier O Line Coach and What If Kirby/UGA Also went out and got themselves a premier WRs Coach, and What If Kirby/UGA were able to dip into the portal and get say Two pretty good maybe not AJ Green good but pretty good WRs better than any we currently have ??

Coupled with the incoming HS recruits WRs one of which I think is a 5 star. Would Mike Bobo be Able to have better success ?? Significantly better success ??

You might ask Well why didn’t you put Bobo on the firing list to ?? Because I don’t think Kirby can bring himself to fire his Life Long friend. I doubt seriously he’ll fire Searls or Coley. But he Sure ain’t gonna fire Bobo. So I’m thinking if there’s ANY firing going on those two are more realistic. I’m NOT saying hiring two better position coaches would suddenly turn Bobo Inyo Super Coach. But if the O Line and WRs level of play were brought up significantly it stands to reason the QB and RBs would benefit to. Thoughts ??

I wish you were wrong and Kirby would fire Bobo. The play-calling lacks creativity. There are several smart, young OC's out there who would love to come to UGA.

I could not agree with you more 1SICemDAWGS1…I have never cared for any of the four remaining teams, BUT, last night gave me a new appreciation for Marcus Freeman as a couch and Riley Leonard as a QB and ND proved to me that "BIG ****" on the O-Line will never win against "QUICK and STRONG" on the D-Line……also SPECIAL TEAM CREATIVITY can win games….so, with all that said, I'm pullin for The Mighty LUCKY Irish VIRGIN!

Was the stadium half full last night? Maybe all this expansionism is road too far? Didn't get to see the game cause My ESPN 3 streamer was apparently not part of the anointed.

Frazier had ten yards per carry and only got the ball 4 times. Carson Beck had his season ended with a desperation pass at the end of the half, so we try the same with Gunner next game? Only behind 3 points? Kirby seemed willing to die on that hill AS if it was a no-brainer.

Wow, that drop in the 2nd half. Do they really need to call a penalty on some GA guy who didn't disrupt the game in any way?

Folks forget that we should have at least scored 3 on that first drive. IMO, the coaches lost this game and I'm beginning to wonder if they need to start including geritol in their daily diet.

Looks like our luck ran out. I personally didn't see anything elite about Notre Dame

I could only watch the first half, so don't know how the flow of the game went second half except for highlights. But, my real head scratcher was the short series with 3.5 mins to go in second qtr. Contrary to some comments below, we actually had success running between tackles early on. I wonder if Etienne's fumble scared Bobo into continuing, but three incomplete passes made for a short series after ND had kicked their first FG. On our prior drives, we mixed things up pretty well and moved the ball. There was plenty of time to get down the field. Even if we don't score, we could chew up some yardage and clock, and make ND move against us and possibly change the course of the end of the half.
