38 seconds is the over..
This isnt the Randy Moss or Byron Leftwich Marshall. This is a bad football team.
First drive let's establish the run. Get Frazier going. No fumbles please. Subsequent drives get the play action game going. Maybe some RPO with Gunner and some straight drop backs taking shots downfield.
Defense give them the boa constrictor treatment. Wrap around em tight from the first snap and squeeze.
Ideally we have a big rushing day. Gunner gets his when the opportunity is there. Defense pitches a shutout. No injuries.
i want Puglisi taking snaps in the third quarter. If Gunner has to play into the 4th it’s the same old same old with Bobo and/or the doubts about Gunner will be intensified.
Good point Christy. The sooner the backup is in there the better.
Yep. This one better be over by the end of first quarter….middle of the second at the latest. If we aren't up by at least 24 points at halftime it will be a bad sign.
exactly. Need to get back to imposing our will early and get those backups plenty of reps. Haven’t had that in 2 years.
It seems to me Gunner also needs lots of game reps- he doesn't have a ton.
Agree, but Ryan 1 and 2 may not get many opportunities until the end of the season vs. CLT outside of these two games. Could get some playing time against KY, but they always seem to play us tough. One of the Ryans has to be ready to go should Gunner get hurt.
Agree. No perfect answer I guess.
playing against Marshall and Austin peay won’t help him. He’s gonna get plenty of reps in due time.
Go U Hairy Dawgs! Our running backs R The Original Thunder ⛈️ and lightning ⚡
Well with 54% of the UGA roster being either first or second year players, and game #1 is in Athens, I would hope that just about everyone would get A WHOLE LOT OF MEANINGFUL REPS in this game!! GO DAWGS!!!
Although I tend to agree we must remember how Kirby manages some of these games to keep our players from taking naps.
Go, Dawgs!
I recall this topic being bandied about the last couple of seasons , but I am not sold on the theory that Kirby purposely "handicaps" the team against the smaller schools to keep the games close. I say this because I view the use of any type of reduced subset of the entire playbook in those games as simply hunting rabbits with a .22 instead of a 12 gauge with 00 buckshot. and not really marking the games harder for them artificially. He still gives them the tools to dominate if they execute well, but reserves the more complex weapons for the Bull Moose they will be hunting later.
In lieu of throwing bombs, fancy reverses, etc., shouldn't we expect to see lots of big runs for 50+ yards runs against the smaller, slower teams just as easily if our blocking is where it needs to be? I think someone on this thread talked about a minimum expectation of 40+ points in weeks one and two and I agree that seems very reasonable regardless of how slimmed down the game plan is.
I'm so excited to see the Dawgs putting toe to leather and foot to asses again!!!
GO DAWGS!! GATA!!
I'm just guessing, but depth seems to be the trend everywhere on this Dawg team. I'm not sure if we are really deep, or if the top Dawgs have yet to emerge, but I suspect the former. I expect to see a bunch of players in the first two games even if we don't pull away quickly. Maybe great players will emerge by Knoxville, but the RBs, WRs, TEs, even OLs seem to be deep. The defense is likewise.
