Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Can’t read defenses
beck was the best processor under Kirby
I haven’t seen any of our QBs play enough to have a strong opinion on their abilities to read defenses or process necessary information, but you could be right. It’s certainly true that we won’t have a QB with experience, barring an addition through the portal.
Even so, it’s not too ridiculous to think or at least hope that one of our guys improve in these areas. Success could come down to our coaches understanding where our guys are in their development and putting them into the appropriate situations that maximize their chance for success and future development.
I do understand your skepticism bc I share it as well, but I do hope that one of our guys steps up and makes a positive difference. I have doubts about it, but I still have hope that things will click for one of our QBs.
How uber critical is that….reading defenses? I mean, I'm not entirely sure Dart or Milroe are particularly elite in that category, but they made our defense look silly. They just executed their plays extremely well and their OCs had great gameplans for us.
Yeah, I can see your point. Especially when you have talent like we do. We don’t have to have an all-American QB to compete for a championship
it’s the difference between a positive play or a sack. Stetson’s year in 22 was so good because he was getting the team into the right checks. The Notre Dame game showed how much Gunner has to learn in that area. Hopefully it’ll come with starter reps in practice and some paycheck games to start the season.
Yeah, that’s a good point. Especially with the talent we have, the right guy playing QB does make a huge difference.
From the voices of many past threads here: We didn’t win championships in spite of Stet, many big games were won in large part bc of his performance.
Well, I'm getting work done so I can goof off and watch football next fall.
I'm just watching and waiting ATM. Curtis is in Oregon right now until Wednesday and then flying back to Ga for a 4 day visit to Athens Late Wednesday thru Sunday. Both are un-officials
#2 fastest 100 sprinter in high school signed with UGA in November. This weekend he ran a 9.99 which is insane even though wind was 2.6. I'm not really sure what UGA did but they signed well above the usual roster limit.
RE: roster limits… FBS schools can offer up to 105 scholarships starting this year.
That's some serious speed, btw.
Thx for the link. His top gear is amazing. He starts with the pack and then he lights the burners.
He's not playing football, right? He's just doing track.
I don't think so but I also don't know anything about him outside of track. He's a load though, could probably just run over Dbacks.
The distance between him and the pack was crazy.
I was only generally aware of the upcoming changes. Apparently the settlement now means scholarship restrictions have been replaced with roster size limits. Football is 105. The other key limits are…
-750 additional scholarship spots available across college sports
– Men’s and women’s soccer will each have 28 scholarships available
– Women’s field hockey will have 27 scholarships available
– Men’s and women’s golf will each have 9 scholarships available
– Men’s and women’s track and field will each have 45 scholarships available
– Men’s and women’s tennis will each have 10 scholarships available
The change for Track and Field is WILD. Men used to be capped at 12.6 scholarships and Women at 18. To go from that to 45 EACH? Men's Volleyball is going from 4.5 to 18. Water Polo from 8 to 24. Sheesh!
Famous quote from Ike Turner, "Womens be thinkin' too much." Could be the same for qb"s and receivers.
