Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

3 issues Kirby Smart identified as problematic with House vs. NCAA settlement

ATHENS â Kirby Smart doesnât have a crystal ball, but the 10th-year Georgia head football coach has been in the game long enough to know a challenge when he sees one.

seems like a lot of collateral damage to college sports. Most of this could have been adverted if they only started paying them instead of the farce NIL solution where the NCAA attempted to save their control
Money. The root of all evil.
I hate to say it but coaches, universities, conferences, & the NCAA can whine all they want about roster management, loss of infrastructure, loss of traditions, & the impact on college athletics. They brought this on themselves with insane coaches salaries, buyouts, runaway recruiting budgets, & more money spent on facilities than some countries GDP!
in the end, tradition, student athletes & the fans are the ones who will lose. A month before media days & inside of 60 days before fall camp, I could care less about the upcoming season. Money & greed have displaced the traditions of a beautiful fall Saturday on a college campus cheering on your school.
love of money
you get it…thank you for saying it
NO. Its the "love" of money which makes it evil. Money itself is not evil.
Kirby is all over this.
I don't think everybody can be painted with that brush....but, yeah...it's the way of the world, that we allow to exist.
Go Dawgs....Rule that world!
its in the Bible…argue with G-d
Broken
Not so fast Dawg Nation……I'm with ya Betheredge, my heart aches for the "good ole days"…..certain players driving up in a brand new ride, or their mom/dad gets a primo job upgrade when they signed, a player takes his bubs out on the town with plenty of cash….I was thinking, amature athletics really died when the first scholarship was handed out and we've been paying players ever since, so I don't decry NIL so much now that it's out in the open…..now that we're all ridin… Happy-azzed down the slippery slope, the only solution is litigation….and I'm holding my breath waiting for a gifted "walk On" to sue the NCAA/Commission for denying the opportunity to earn a living in athletics, after all, isn't this a violation of one of the foundational unalienable rights guaranteed in the Declaration of Independence….the pursuit of happiness.
Lol....I think you just described the new High School sports business model.
Somebody's gotta get these kids ready for the next level..."Professional CFB". Or, The College Football League, consisting of a major and minor league [TBD].
IMO....There'll be a lot more Sports Agents and Attorneys floating around elementary schools and recreation centers, with smiles & baited "hooks"....and.…There'll be a few more IMG's and De Lasalle's popping up in the world, to meet the new demand for Freshmen to make an immediate contribution.
High School and Youth Football Players, just became a commodity to be weighed, measured and targeted....by the time they graduate from HS.
We know now, who'll be minding the store....but....Who is watching out for the kids and their best interest, "at the juvenile level"? For the sake of argument…let's assume the player has no real family involved and the coach is clueless. Who will keep the "flies &snakes" off of another...let's say, Herschel Walker?
If Herschel had been around in today's market...he'd been smothered in flies & snakes....and, possibly never went to UGA or played football. Lol....crazy days.
In other words....what are the rules of engagement for representatives, agents and attorneys, at the "HS and below" level? Are there any?....other than the ones that exist to limit recruiting contact by a coaching staff [or rep]?
