Very nice addition! He will be a headache for opposing DC's, and defenses to scheme against with his size, height and speed. Flexing him out at WR will cause huge mismatches for the secondary, move him in close, and most any LB will be outmatched against him with his speed and athleticism. Welcome to the DAWG Family young man..GoDAWGS!

Not so fast…..it's all about the money……just not "NIL now $"……it's about NFL career wealth and True Georgia Guys know that commiting to the G will get you NFL development, elite experience, and national exposure….which equals NFL Draft status….1st round, 2nd round….it all depends on how hard you're willing to work using your GOD given talents.

Are there any questions concerning the low level of competition he played against?

Lol...a few, at first. And, only from the ones that hadn't seen h8m play, yet.

But, you see how that turned out. 😁

    Is he a 5* or 4*?

Completely different day and age. You did not have the same level of separation between the classes of football then, especially due to the level of recruitment and transfer you see today.

IMO....Digital and technilogical advancements & "The Mass Communication Age".…with information at the fingertips & a 24 hr news cycle, changed everything. I mean...every...thing.

Players & Coaches, as well as Parents, are much better informed and prepared for the HS to CFB jump.

I've always been of the opinion, that Steroid use at the high school level, made the NCAA comfortable enough to declare Freshmen eligible to compete against upperclassmen.

I don't know if...or how much...steroids play in development at the high school level...today. But, guys that played positions that required a lot of physicality, had a decision to make, back in the 70's.

"To take steroids...or, not to take steroids" was discussed frequently. A lot of guys felt that...."if they couldn't do it on their own...without chemical assistance...they didn't want to do it".

A good friend and Teammate of mine, chose "not to", with the sentiment I stated above. He broke his back, in his first Fall Scrimmage @UGA. Some of the top tier recruits, back then were bulked up on steroids. Through gymnasiums, mostly.

It wasn't as frowned upon at the time...and, the dangers weren't widely known. It was magic. Lol. It still required the same hard work...but, the payoff was enhanced.

When a "Steroid Guy" went up against a normal player, not on the juice....It was the equivalent of Mark Mcguire hitting against a little league pitcher.

The level of player development varied much more widely in Herschel's time. Which is probably why Freshmen weren't allowed to play...until they were.

I don't believe Herschel ever did steroids...but, I don't know for sure. I do know, he developed some kind of mental health problem at one time. Anyway....if he DID...He certainly wasn't the only one.

Lol...I don't remember when the changes were made to roster sizes and Freshmen eligibility...but, that lit a fire under every kid's butt, looking to play for a Div1 School. We thought.

Today's top tier High School player is much, much, more developed, than High School players of the '70's & '80's. IMO...The current level of elite is at a bar, we couldn't even see back then.

It's become a profession at a much earlier age. The public found out about the great ones, mostly through word-of-mouth. Which is how I remember hearing about Herschel at the time, in his senior year.
