"This, in spite of what Stockton’s inconsistent performances against elite defenses might indicate."

    100% bshit!

Gunner will only do as well as his supporting cast does around him. Their performance will be key. Just like with Stetson, our 2-time National Championship walk-on, he depended on a solid running game, a great OL, and a compliment of talented hands at receiver and TE.

I agree GBAL, total BS comment and very unwarranted! The young man came in not under the best of circumstances and did everything he was asked to do plus much on his own. He’s a leader and that leadership will show through soon enough. He’ll be engaged with the team instead of sitting on the bench hanging his head like someone before him. Go Dawgs!

I still believe that CB was a very good QB, but I feel that somehow he "wasn't there" last year. Maybe similar to what Oscar Delp said about himself. CB did "turn it on" when having to come from behind most of the time, but seemed very inconsistent most of the time. I believe that like SB, GS will inspire the team after a "mistake", no matter if the mistake is his or belongs to someone else on the team. There is a right way and a wrong way to hold someone accountable, even yourself. I think that GS knows how to do it the right way. Go Dawgs!!

I am in agreement with @GBAL - what am I missing that his performances have been inconsistent? Heck, he hasn't enough experience to know if it consistent or inconsistent. He keeps getting a bad rap for the ND game and I just didn't think he played that poorly and that he definitely wasn't the reason for the loss. Yes, the **** fumble was a killer but that is just inexperience and trying to make something happen.

I don't pretend to be an expert but I'll have to say, I'm confident in Stockton to run the offense and run it well as long as all other cylinders are firing well. If the offense is as off-base as last season, I don't believe any QB would be outstanding. Go DAWGS!

I think you hit the nail on the head with Beck. He IS a good quarterback...but, loses focus, becomes inconsistent...and, unlike a lot of successful QB's...has a hard time shaking the last set of downs.

Imo….It seems to happen, when he attempts to overcompensate, in making up for other failures from the guys around him. I don't know if anybody else could've fared much different, last year...with all the injuries and resulting overall inexperience.

Maybe Stetson would've prevailed with his athleticism...but, Stockton? He more or less un unknown commodity. Imo....ya can't go by anything you saw from Stockton, last year. The Dawgs were in damage control mode.

    Go Dawgs!!

When I saw the "*****" , str*p was not the word I imagined was there. I don't think Dawgnation wants anyone talking about str*p clubs here (for obvious reasons) that's why "str*p" is banned.

My thought is that Beck was preoccupied with being an NFL Jr QB. He thought he had already punched his ticket to the 1st rd in '23. So he had the NIL, the clothes, the jewelry, the car, the hot girlfriend …..he just figured he could show up and '23 would naturally repeat. Too many distractions and too much going on, outside the lines, that wasn't helping him be focused on the field. The hunger was not there. You don't eat off the floor when you get out of your Lamborghini wearing your designer clothes and Rolex watch.

I am beginning to think that more than a few UGA players with NFL futures are just looking to make it through their last year w/o getting hurt or hurting their draft position.

i also don’t think Beck was the only one with that mindset. Likely had multiple OL with a similar mindset.

Exactly !! The O Line AND the receivers sure share with Gunner in the loss to ND. I watched that game a few times as I had it recorded. The O Line was letting Gunner get ate alive !! And receivers dropping balls.

And that particular ND team was one of the best that school has produced in quite some time. I know Dawgs fans don’t like giving the opposition credit, it’s pretty sour in my mouth to, but the ND Defense came to play and they Knew Gunner was very raw playing vs that level of competition. To me that was a Team loss primarily on the Dawgs Offense but not just Gunner alone. You See that but we have Some Dawgs fans that have yet to show up on this thread that are blind to it !!

that whole playoff game swung on the late first half fumble and the special teams return to start the second half. Fix those and I believe we find a way to win. Likely doesn’t matter with the way Ohio was playing. Throw in the terrorist attack and Kirby’s dad passing and it was a cocktail of the worst possible avenue for winning a game.

New season 20 days away though.

With Beck I believe it was nerves . He never looked settled or never in a rhythm no matter how many games he started .I’ll never get over the SEC game with Bama and how Georgia was the best team that year . Would ,shoulda , coulda lol .

All true. All of those things came together...and created a perfect storm. That storm is the only thing that stopped the Dawgs, last year...imo.

But,...at the same time...a storm washes away the dirt and residue and allows for a clean, fresh start. And....doing it with a team, that survived the heart of the storm, no less.

The Dawgs seem to have an edge about em this year. Even the coaching staff. They are all battle tested, with a few exceptions...and looking for a little payback. I wouldn't put anything past em.…Not in '25, I wouldn't.

    Go git 'em Big Red!!!
