Georgia football players to monitor heading into first fall scrimmage

âWeâre going to try to introduce kicking game, see where our freshmen are, give everybody an opportunity to go out there and play,â Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Wednesday. âPlay three groups. I donât see it being different. The outcomes have always been different, but not in terms of format.â

Once you look past the obvious that the season relies on the ceiling of GS the next step is what does the ceiling of the D rely on?
The ceiling of the defense and maybe the season relies on ERIV. This defense would improve immensely if ERIV becomes the best player on the D and a lockdown CB. The image of Ryan Williams (then 17 years old) running circles, untouched around JHumphey and freshman KJB on an 80 yard go ahead TD is still fresh in my mind.
ERIV was the highest rated HS player in the country last year. Ahead of Jeremiah Smith. Let that sink in. If ERIV can become an impact, lockdown defender (think Caleb Downs) this defense could be championship worthy. When was the last time you saw ball hawking defenders all over the secondary regularly intercepting the opposition?
QJohnson has always been a player I watched since I read about his play as a DE/QB at 6'4" 245 lb at Mays HS. After ERIV he may be the defensive break out player to watch in '25

Last year we had a lack of player leadership. Offensive line was a mess and not a cohesive unit due to a number of obvious factors. Hope is that they stay healthy. Gunner is a leader unlike Beck who was not. I’ll take F-150 over Lambo everything. I’m thinking the Defense will be a bit more intense with all th hungry youngsters.
If Ellis doesn't play this year he definitely won't be back next year. And I hate that!!!!
I think that the 5 most important players this year could be the 5 O Linemen. If they open running lanes and can keep Gunner clean then this offense will be back to where they were 3 years ago. The defense should be fine especially if they offense can keep teams playing from behind early.
I'm banking on Johnson being the breakout D player this season. He has a great opportunity and he definitely has the skills to take advantage. DAWGS always seem to have "sleepers" at LB - Beal, Q. Walker, etc - that have talent but due to others with talent, they don't seem to get their shot until later. I think Johnson fits that category and I hope I'm right. Go DAWGS!
I always "test" when I am the 1st to post to an article. Then modify if it takes. This one didn't for some reason.
