Georgia football final grades following win over Austin Peay

Comments
pretty fair grades. Thanks.
Wow, no tight end catches? Never seen that before...well, except during the Bobo/richt yrs. His play calling is what it's always been.
Agree with the grades Connor.
The Offense is everyone's concern. The O-line is a disjointed mess. The RBs have been somewhat of a bright spot. The continued lack of use of arguably the best TE room in the nation is befuddling just as it was last season. Our defense will be tested against the Vols, but they look respectable and like a more typical Smart squad.
Gunner is a concern. Sportswriter Stewart Mandel made a valid point this morning in his weekend game synopsis:
" Stockton was a respectable 26-of-34 for 227 yards in the Dawgs’ 28-6 win over FCS foe Austin Peay, but On3/Rivals’ Anthony Dasher took a closer look at those numbers. Turns out 14 of those 26 completions were screen passes, and another four for 5 yards or less. On everything 5 yards or farther, he was just 6-of-18 for 90 yards."
That ain't gonna cut it. He had even less vertical passing last weekend.
If Bobo's game plan is to play conservative, play keep away from Aguilar, and grind out the clock, then our season is officially over. I'm hoping he has really just been keeping most of the playbook closed and will open up this offense in Knoxville…somehow.
There are 2 coaches holding the Dawgs back. We all know which two, but the pretending will continue.
Conor, you should switch the TE and OL grades. The TEs can’t help it if they aren’t targeted more than they were. The OL, however, deserves a big fat F because they can’t push smaller defenders off the ball to get one stinking yard, especially at the goal line. Bad memories of SC game years ago when we had the best RB in the country, Todd Gurley, and OC Bobo decided to get cute at the goal line which eventually cost us the game that day. Thankfully it didn’t yesterday.
Georgia have to much talent on the offensive side of the ball for them not to be explosive. Maybe Kirby needs to find a new play caller. The offensive line has not been great the past couple of seasons. Maybe a change is needed there as well.
I'm looking at that generous C grade for overall performance vs a lowly FCS team and then to Rocky Top next Saturday against a well coached and aggressive SEC Volunteer team….and…sigh. However, I do believe in miracles, cause it is going to take one. Is this the new Georgia norm?
Someone tell me please that Kirby is holding back the good stuff for Tennessee? Tell me.
Kirby may regret not making a change with Searles last year. There is too much talent with the lineman for them to be continually pushed around and blown by like they are sitting still. I realize that Kirby knows a lot more than any of us when it comes to his staff, but the O line looks like it did when Searles was with Richt. Talented but undercoached
A C would appear to be grading on a curve. If we wanted to learn what we need to focus on we sure found out against a team where we should have shone like a nova
IMO a pretty good assessment of the game, Conner. An overall C may even be a little too high. There seems to be very little excitement with this team and not a whole lot of enthusiasm. Let's hope the motivation, which to this point has been missing, will appear for this team with the realisation that if it doesn't, we may get our A**es kicked in Knoxville.
This offense feels like the definition of insanity . I hope they can show me wrong next week .
Agree with the grades.
Searels has to go... end of story. I've been a Bobo supporter (as difficult as it has been sometimes) and realize we haven't seen the offense "opened up" yet, but... that enthusiasm is on life support right now, at the very best.
Gunner? I just don't know. This reminds me of the early SBIV days when the vast majority of us were concerned about him, but it ended up with two Natty's. I'm an optimist by nature, but without Monken and a better O-line for Gunner, that optimism sure feels stretched to the breaking point right now.
I'll continue to root for Gunner and the Dawgs, of course, but a bad Tennessee game will really make it hard to not want some in-season changes of substance.
As many have said, CKS sees all, so (for now) I'll be like many of our fellow DN posters and hope like a son of a gun for the rest of us to get to see whatever Kirby and the team have up their sleeves 🤞
