The "first round bye" thing … not buying it. I have stated all of UGA's issues on offense last year ad nauseum and won't repeat them. UGA not only lost 3 games for a reason last year but very well could have lost 6 (13-12 Kentucky, 44-42 OT Georgia Tech, 22-19 OT Texas). And the losses were blowouts (2 TDs to ND, 3 TDs to Ole Miss, down huge at halftime to Bama). By contrast while UGA did have some close games this year, inevitable because of the young team and tough SEC schedule, rather than being 3 plays from losing 6 games they were the call to play Cash Jones instead of Josh McCray on a single short yardage play from being undefeated and #1 in the country.
Ohio State? Same. The 3 good teams that OSU played this year: 14-7, 13-10 and 24-14. There is absolutely no evidence that Ohio State's offense is capable of doing anything against a good defense without their own defense forcing turnovers. Spread offenses require a lot of talent at the skill positions, and this year Ohio State was Jeremiah Williams, a redshirt freshman non dual threat QB, a true freshman RB and a bunch of guys. And for all the grief that A&M got this season, the Aggies go no worse than 11-2 against Ohio State's schedule and probably go 12-1.
“From the jump, Georgia knew it was going to have to make some changes with how it prepared from last year.”
A great way to stay in game form would be to solicit an invitation to the Gasparilla Bowl as a warm up. You would have an actual game environment in front of more than 2,000 screaming fans as you match up against a high caliber opponent like Arkansas Pine Bluff, or Jackson State University. It’s time to think outside the box!
You’re welcome

That we will never know for sure, but what we do know is that while blessed with one of the best home-field-advantages in all of college football (Kyle Field), in its biggest game ever, they managed to hang a total of 3 points on Miami. Now they get to watch the CFP with the same view that you and I have. That is what we know for sure!
IF CKS were to retire I hope we don't hire Lanning, he's one of the worse game managers I've ever seen, Oregon should be ahead 20+ points late in the 3rd except for his poor coaching decisioins.
I must be talking too fast for you @randomsportsfan
Let me repeat it a little s l o w e r…the only SEC team with a winning conference record was Texas. aTm defeated the 16th place, the 15th place, the 14th place, the 13th place, the 12th place, the 10th place and 8th place teams in the SEC. They lost to the 5th place Texas team with the only SEC winning record.
As for your opinion about the first round jinx thingy…bye bye Texas Tech…oh and 6 so far. Your opinion matters little when compared to facts but hey, just be you. By the way did you ever find that source article confirming Kirby kicking Carson Beck to the curb last year? I thought not…
After seeing a 6th bye-week team go down, I hope Kirby has them doing Oklahoma drills during warmup.
Agree 100%. At one point this year, Miami was ranked #2 and Oregon-Texas Tech was a 4-5 matchup with Oregon having much more playoff experience than Texas Tech. That plus the great points you made about last year's playoffs - I'm not ready to subscribe to the playoff bye jinx, just yet, especially with Indiana looking great at halftime. Ole Miss was motivated for their 1st round game: at home & motivated after Kiffin left. They're not at home and the post-Kiffin motivation won't be there. Dawgs are ready & win!
So … Indiana 24 Alabama 7. Theory over. It is all about having a better team.
The drywall man in Alabama is gonna be making some money next week.
Bama had 3 losses. Almost had 4-5 losses. Played like it today. I have no clue what’s gonna happen tonight. Everyone acting like OleMiss is playing out of the sunbelt or something is crazy to me. Ole Miss and Georgia are the two best teams in the SEC this year. At this point, not to sure what that means.
Lol !! Someone Off Topic my comment about Kirby having the Dawgs ready after the Bye. If your gonna Off Topic someone at least take the time to Look At The Title Of The Article !! So childish Lol !!
@randomsportstroll the better team certainly prevailed in that game, but the threat of unintended consequences from an extended layoff (not to be confused with a mere bye week) is still very real. Kirby Smart has validated it in several press conferences and interviews, Cignetti addressed it, and Mendozi mentioned that he was proud of how his team was able to overcome it during his post-game interview. The thorough defeat that Indiana just applied to Alabama proves that not only are they the best team and deserve to be taken seriously, but it is possible to overcome the threat of being "rusty" after an extended layoff. Both of those things can be true at the same time. Hope that helps!
GO DAWGS!
Seriously, links that don’t work or forward to the home page and then comment sections screwed up. It is like a bad high school project on this site.
That was beautiful.
What a catch. welcome back Colbie! Go Dawgs!
