Yes, we seem a little thin in the receiving area. Gone is Branch, Young and Bell. For the most part, an unknown as to what we have. Who will be the go-to guy? Nobody knows yet. London Humphreys leads the group. There's White-Helton and Taylor with some playing time. Isiah Canion is a good portal pickup. Maybe Landon Roldan gets more reps. Look forward to seeing what speedy Dallas Dickerson or 4 stars Craig Dandridge & Ryan Mosley bring.

Really need to involve the TEs more in the passing game. They are knee deep in talent at that position.

Fair post - but a lot of factors play in as to why plays were called and why they didn’t work:

    IE:

    1. What defense was the opponent in when the play In question was called.
    2. Matchups
    3. Situation
    4. Game Plan
    5. Execution
    6. Who has final say over play call etc.

All plays don’t work, sometimes the man lining up across you just beats you. But most all plays work if they are executed.

The last I looked Kirby was the winningest active coach in CF the last 5 years. He’s already accomplished more than any coach before him. If he wants to keep Bobo, I have to defer to him & support him.

I expect a good dose of Tight End, myself....ala Brock Bowers years. Maybe, not as dynamic, but, undoubtedly proficient. UGA is loaded in that area.

That....along with improved pass blocking....should open up more downfield opportunities, for "the explosive plays".

Let me just say....Frazier is a beast. And, he's coming back. Let that soak in....Lol. I don't think there's been one quite like him, in the SEC since Emmitt Smith. He's gonna surprise some people this year....imho.

I'm not knocking Coach Bobo, but we did have a more aggressive offense and effective passing game with Monken. Is that due to having key playmakers like Bowers, McConkey, Washington, a solid O-line, and a loaded & capable RB room? Probably some of it. But, I think it's as much the skill set and confidence of Gunner than anything else. If Bobo isn't confident Stockton can run the offense a certain way, then he is not going to put him into questionable throws or plays. Hence the reason we've done so many screen passes and shorter dink passes. Bobo does occasionally break out some aggressive plays, but he also doesn't hesitate to reel it in and play conservative, sometimes too conservative in my estimation. But, I'm just an armchair coach!

I do think we have a solid defense set for next season. On offense, our TE room is great but rarely used for anything but run blocking. Still not sure why. When you have a beast like Williams why the heck are you not using him more in the passing game? He's proven he can catch the ball, yet he's been non-existent. The WR room is up for debate. How good are these guys going to be? Another group of mediocre receivers, or will we have a couple of guys break out elite? I guess we'll see. And as Gunner plays, so goes the offense. He needs to improve his vertical pass game and reads. We've got to become more of a downfield threat. Simple as that.

It's a great schedule for next season and very manageable. The SEC is down in dominance, and on paper, we've got a better, more complete team going into 2026 than just about anyone in the conference. We don't play Texas, and they are probably going to be the other "best" team in the SEC. LSU and A&M are questionable but potentially very good, but I'm not convinced either Kiffin or Elko can field a truly dominant team.

We also had "depth for days", with Monkin. And, Bowers, Bennett, Cook & McKonkey...., and an NFL Grade offensive line...2 deep. It takes time to build an offense. Beck wasn't Bobo's guy...Stockton Is. Just sayin'.

And, just watch.…all the Homer ESPN'ers are gonna ding UGA for a weak schedule....while they kept silent about the Big10's pathetically weak schedules, this year

I can't wait for a "level" Big10 playing field. And, thanks to NIL/TP (free-agency)....it's coming. I love Indiana! Lol

Notre Dame stayed in the mix after losing it's 2 most important games....think that would happen with an SEC Team? Nope!

@BigDawg61…yes, we had the talent AND depth for days. No more. So, we'd better figure it out quickly on offense, because those days are gone. And we won't have a lot of that "time" you speak of to develop & build the offense around a core group of guys unless those guys stick around, and that is not going to happen like it used to going forward.

Indiana started this season with their talent ranking #18 out of 18 teams in the B1G on multiple rating services. I think that right there says one heckuva lot about what Cignetti and his coaching staff did. Hard to frickin believe.

    And think about this:

In the three seasons since Georgia’s last national title, 11 programs have been in the CFP semifinals. Georgia is not one of those 11.

That doesn't seem right, and I know Kirby ain't happy about it.

Pretty sure the answer to most all of your questions is the OL. The offense goes nowhere without it. The QB needs time to have the downfield passes to develop & also to see them - at least 3 seconds to go through his progressions to make it all work - all QB’s do.

Not a lot of QB’s would have survived that onslaught - considering, I thought GS did an excellent job and will only get better.

The screen passes were used to give the QB time to get the ball off…to keep drives going and time of possession. More than likely, that was the game plan most all season.

Also, the screens worked, especially with Branch. Pass pro was the offense’s achilles heel imo.

The good news is, they were young, talented, are growing and there is a new OL coach in town… which I feel was needed.

Thought the Dawgs had an outstanding season with mostly freshman & sophomores to rely on….future is bright.

No problem with Bobo, Kirby or play calling. They did an outstanding job with what they had to work with - without them, the season certainly would not have been as good.

@Eastmandawg…don't disagree with you, but even when Gunner had time, he missed open receivers and he bailed on plays before he needed to. Has he reached his ceiling? No one knows. I do think Bobo called the offense based on our skills and what Gunner could do. Hope he does improve and think he will.

Yes, there is mostly upside to this offense and hope for next season. The OL should be better, and I am also stoked about the new OC. Injuries are the one thing we can't control, and the last 2 seasons the OL has been hit by the injury bug. Actually, both sides of the LOS have.

the sporadic line play probably had him spooked - wouldn’t surprise me if he was concussed from some of those shots he took. Not too may would have survived all of that.

Nonetheless, time will tell…but pretty sure that the pass protection had a lot to do with his “questionable” performance…which I think was pretty dang good considering all.

Anyway - good conversation, we all will find out in time.

What Quarterback....on the planet Earth....doesn't miss an open receiver or throw an interception from time-to-time? I've never seen one.

However, I have seen receivers that could "catch" anything they put their hands on. UGA didn't have many, this year or last.

Dropped balls, missed tackles, blown assignments, missed blocks…All, part of football. The question is...can you overcome it? Kirby does a helluva job with that part....imo.

Now, they need to concentrate on fixing the issues that seem to have arisen, since Lanning and Muschamp's departure.....which, I have no doubt, they'll do, by next year. One way or the other.

I'm sure Kirby aint deaf and blind. He sees everything we see...and a lot more.

“In the three seasons since Georgia’s last national title, 11 programs have been in the CFP semifinals. Georgia is not one of those 11.”???

Scratching my head - which teams have repeated being in the semifinals in those 3 years …is it Texas??

  • BigDawg61BigDawg61 Posts: 3,566 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

How many SEC Titles?....including the recent back-to-back Titles. Only Alabama has more....and, Kirby's just getting started. Lol
