Why Georgia hasn’t used the transfer portal to find a starting quarterback

kirkhilles, you make an interesting point in how programs spend their NIL money. Every position will be treated differently and the QB position, which is the most important, will get the most attention and money. We're already seeing it in how teams like Miami and Oregon are just pulling and paying QBs out of the portal to remain competitive. The top ranked freshman QBs are going to demand top money and playing time but won't be ready to compete for championships and the program risk the possibility of that QB leaving after a year or two to move on for more money and or a perceived chance to win. The problem with offering tiered payments is that the program will just get out bid with guaranteed money and/or playing time (see Jared Curtis). This will be fascinating to watch how each coach navigates this. I don't know if there is a "right answer" and each program will have to decide what works best for them at the time.

“Jared Curtis and Dylan Raiola flipped from Georgia at the last minute because they wanted immediate playing time.”

Partially true, I suppose. But Riola is transferring even though he would have been the starter at Nebraska. As for Curtis, who really knows why he just flat out lied to the Georgia coaches and the media. Both of these young men have serious character issues imo.
Riola is the product of poor parenting. His parents moved him all over the USA so that he could play for four different high schools in three states in four years. When parents make their children the center of the universe, you get narcissistic spoiled brats. That’s Riola.
Curtis is a more difficult one to figure out. His parents seem to be good folks, but he was permitted to use UGA to get more money out of Vandy. The parents allowed him to do that, so…. It seems pretty clear to me that bad parenting took place with Curtis also. At least that’s my take on the situation.
