if Canion is the biggest WR, I see a big year for the tight ends. The TE room is loaded with wide body receivers. Maybe not as quick as a WR, but Bowers proved that if the scheme is right, the plays will be there.

Bobo turning Gunner loose AND Gunner trusting the guys he’s throwing to. In That scenario there Will be some INTs along the way. Even the most elite QBs throw some INTs.

But it’s a risk vs reward deal. The rewards Can far out weigh the risks when the QB and WR/TE are on the same page. Gunner doesn’t want to hurt his team with INTs. I certainly appreciate that, but not scoring TDs will hurt the team especially in tight games.

And he’ll probably throw the occasional s t u p I d one to. It’s football it happens. But let er rip !! Take the risks. Now if the ball has Any possibility of being caught I want to see our WRs/TEs Fight for the ball !! Bobo has got to encourage Gunner All The More when he throws an INT. I honestly Believe in Gunner. He has the arm strength. He just needs to get his timing down. And I Believe he Can and Will !! Go Dawgs !!

Gunner has shown the ability to get the ball downfield when he needs to. What he needs to improve is making off-schedule throws when the pocket breaks down. There were several times last year when he would come off his reads and tuck the ball and run instead of moving in the pocket and finding a receiver breaking open downfield. We can talk about play calls and making throws all day, but ask any defensive coordinator and they'll tell you that the toughest QBs to defend are those who can buy time and make the off-schedule throws even when they have the perfect defense called. As UGA fans, we experienced it against Ole Miss in the CFP last year.

Great comments !! We Dawgs fans tend to be very reluctant to give the rival much credit if any. On THAT day they just out played us. It’s very possible we could have came back the very next weekend and beat them.

That was Gunner’s first year as the True Starter. He knows he needs to improve and in what areas. I Believe he will make us all proud this year. I believe he will grow to higher levels this year. One thing I’m absolutely sure of, no one will work any harder to get better. That’s just his work ethics.

On a personal note as I’ve told you before and I’m honored to repeat Thank You for your service and ALL our Veterans, Active Duty, Ntl. Guard, Air Guard, Reserves and Coast Guard. My heartfelt prayers for ALL our service members in harms way and those that might be soon. 🙏🙏

Until the season starts and we see what all these guys can really do, I'm taking a definite wait-and-see approach to Canion and the rest of our wide receivers. Talk is cheap, especially in Spring practice. Let's see who, if anyone, produces when the bright lights come on. Go Dawgs!

I would've liked to have seen Brent Key's face when Canion told him"I'm out".

Someone on another article (Pollack article?) said UGA has won with their defense in '21 and '22. They implied that QB was not as important if your D is that dominant. They minimalized the play of SBIV (and BB, Pickens, etc etc). They also implied that GS was SBIV. While I expect him to improve this season (especially needed in the area you mentioned) SO FAR GS has not been close to the player SBIV was late in his career.

More and more it is looking like the UGA ceiling in '26 is the GS ceiling in '26. Just like last year.

defense won it for us in 2021 I think it’s safe to say. Equally safe to say as good as the defense was in 2022 Stetson leading that high octane offense won us the big games.

At this point I’m not seeing the dudes on defense who can equal 2021 nor the offensive firepower to equal 2022. I suppose that could change if Gunner magically starts seeing the middle of the field and/or Elijah Griffin makes a huge leap.

    #'s 1, 4, 5 ,9, 19, 29, 44, 90, 99 ... all HS 5* players hitting their prime in the '26 defense. That looks pretty good on paper.

Personally i dont think a D alone can win it. In '21 there were 5 plays in the UGA/OSU game that all went for UGA. Any 1 goes against UGA and UGA loses.

It takes more than D. D was critical but timely plays and luck play a role as well.

QB is just critical for success. GS will have to play better than last year for UGA to win the championship. He hasn't played as well as SBIV. And there were many times when SBIV was bailed out by acrobatic plays by his receivers. GS's ceiling is UGA's ceiling in '26.

i agree there’s stars all over the place on defense. I just get nervous losing Miller and Allen.

I think you’re mixing up the 22 defense with the 21 defense. The 21 defense was insane and won a lot of games for us. They let Stetson come along without having to win the game and he didn’t really give it away too much.

One thing we do agree on is if Gunner can level up, this should be another sec championship caliber team.

Yup, you're right. OSU game was '22 team. Point is made about luck though. Bowers 4th down Matrix catch reversal, Kirby's timely TO on OSU 4th down fake, ref's reversal of Bullard's end zone "targeting" and OSU's last second FG miss. Any one of them changes and UGA loses that game even with the dominant '21 D.

No doubt the '21 D carried the team. Though that 52 yard bomb from Bennett to Pickens and the 40 yard TD to AD, in the CFBCG vs AL, were highly significant to UGA winning that'21 CFBCG. GS has not shown he can make those kind of throws yet. It took every bit of that historic D PLUS SBIV pulling an occasional rabbit out of his hat to carry that team to a championship. We have seen GS drive the bus. We have not seen GS (consistently?) elevate the UGA offense yet.

I don't disagree with anything you said. I am not as nervous about losing Allen and Miller as you are. Miller underachieved (4 sacks in 4 years) IMO at UGA. Mostly because of injuries (though dedication to development could also be questioned). Allen left me wanting more as a between the tackles LB that was stout at the point of attack. Very good chase and tackle. Not so good stopping runs up the middle.

I forgot to add #10 as another 5* on the D. That's 10 5* players on this year's D. If this year's D does not dominate, a hard look needs to be taken at the UGA defensive coaching staff.

i think we need to be a bit more aggressive in letting the OLB hunt the passer. Long way to kickoff so I guess time will tell. We will find out together how much we miss (or don’t miss) Allen and Miller.

That is the UGA defensive "system". Gap control, assignment integrity and recognition THEN rush the passer. You better have a dominant D to run that concept. Gotta be able to shut down the run to put opponent's offense in predictable passing situations THEN UGA plays its pressure game.

It will be interesting to see how/if CKS adjusts/fabricates defensive pressure to compensate for the (well) below average pass rush exhibited in '25.
