I predict Branch will make more from the 42 U.S. Code § 1983 lawsuit settlement than he will from his rookie contract.

Sounds to me like he didn't jump when a cop said jump!, What am I doing wrong officer? I said Move!. THis type of crap happens all the time. Believe it or not it's not even a black or white thing, just an ego trip problem with some LEO's. Don't believe me? You can literally watch videos of it all day long on YT. THere are channels devoted to this.

Lolol....read the latest report. I didn't know Barney Fife worked in Athens, now. I don't understand why Andy, can't just tear up the ticket and send Ol' Barn' to the back for more training.

The Cop, seemed a little "unnecessarily", confrontational to me. I'm not saying i wouldn't have reacted the same way Branch did.…if, everything went down the way they say it did.

Ridiculous! And, that's exactly the way, the smart NFL GM's are gonna see it. Imo.

The situ could've been handled better by both parties....BUT....the police officer is supposed to be "the adult in the room".

Sounds like a situation that could've been easily de-escalated. Why blow THIS up into National Headlines?.…right before the Draft?....Setup???

    Go Dawgs!

Me and my Brother did the same thing, a year ago, looking at a storefront menu..

Lol...we didn't know, Athens employs a 5 second violation for standing. We were guilty...numerous times. Lmao

I guess we owe Athens about $390 in fines...if we ever get back that way. Lol...crazy-town's are popping up all over the Country.

the report is… not exactly a glowing recommendation of ACCPD. real small energy from the officer, to put it kindly.

just gonna fuel the fire of people who think there's a pointed and adversarial relationship with the football program.

Perhaps he suffered a focal seizure (seemingly unconscious but standing) and was incapacitated and could not respond…..at this point sounds like a ligit defence.

Just asking for a friend….just how did a 5'10", 177lb man "obstruct, hinder, and impede free passage upon the sidewalk as well as impede free ingress/egress to or from the adjacent places of business."…….must be a hidden talent and begs the question…..why the helicopters wasn't he playing on the O-Line????

You do realize you can be arrested for a misdemeanor if you don't comply with an officer's direction. You don't have to like it but you have to do it. It's still a misdemeanor but you still go to jail. Yes, it will likely be dismissed and won't hurt his draft status but again, you comply with the officer's lawful orders:

"Due to those actions and Zacharia Branch’s failure to comply with multiple verbal lawful commands…."

Claiming the officer overreacted, maybe he did but again, you follow his orders. Do you honestly think they patrol the streets of Athens looking for athletes just so they can harass them? Be serious.

And claiming you did the same thing while staring at a menu, not quite the same. But, if a police officer said you needed to move, you'd move. You'd gripe about it later and I probably wouldn't blame you but you would move. The mentality on here to always blame the police is amazing. Maybe look at the person on the other side and ask why did they not do what they were told by a duly sworn police officer.

I do agree everyone needs to listen and heed an order from law enforcement but this seems like it could have been handled differently. Need to see what the report contains.

Basically, Branch is in a position where someone is telling him that if he can stay at home for few weeks he’ll win a few million dollars. Smart people would stay home.

Fully agree !! When you encounter law enforcement in That moment they are Always right !! Keep cool and level headed then After if you feel you were mistreated you can go to higher authority.

Bucking law enforcement At The Time usually doesn’t end well for the person. On the scene they Are in charge whether we agree or like it. Best to just comply in that moment Then seek remedy later. Trust me when I say the people in law enforcement at command level take complaints Very seriously !! The last thing they want or need is someone abusing their authority.

Definitely a strange situation, but I'll say the same thing I said when I read Bennett was wandering around drunk knocking on doors… hole up and stay invisible during this small period of time before the draft! Before the Combine, you focus 100% on getting every last skill optimized and then after the Combine, you hide. Play Video Games. Watch TV. Don't post on Social Media. Don't go to bars. Don't DO ANYTHING. A single mistake in this day that creates just a little bit of "hesitation" on an NFL team could easily cost you millions and directly affect your career path.

Yeah?....Go turn the news on. That standard isn't being applied equally. I see a lot of selective law enforcement and lawfare going on. Since 2020....it's become , all-the-rage. Lol

    And, fyi....kids see that too.

We have to DEMAND BETTER, from our public servants. Else....more of the same to come. Just sayin'.

Lol down votes don’t bother me. I could really care less. But sometimes I wonder Why ? ALL I said was best to be cool and level headed in an encounter with Law Enforcement.

Then After go and lodge you’re complaints to higher authorities. Going off on the officer or officers is gonna get you No Where. And all you will be doing is escalating the situation. NO Where in my comment did I say the officer is right. But the Truth is In That Moment they have the power, You don’t.

So you have two options stay cool and try to remember as much detail as you can Then take action. Or lose your cool and go off on the officer and you might end up slammed to the ground, taken to the local jail. Is that right on the officer’s part ? No maybe not. But you are gonna fare Far Better by deferring to the officer In That Moment than trying to argue with them. But it’s a free world do what ever you think is best for You.

As for Me I’m gonna obey the officer. THEN if I feel I’ve been done unjustly I will take it to the highest authority I can go to. I like my **** head as it is and don’t prefer to have a night stick laid on it !! Pride can get you in allot of trouble !!
