Talent wise I do feel Gilbert is the most ready to play day 1. From a team chemistry factor, embracing roles and just being another really talented player among other really talented players, I agree with you. Theo and DW seem to fit the bill there and we likely get our wish to see two elite TEs on UGA’s class.
BTW, that group chat has Milton, Ringo, Sherman, Tate, Beck, Ricks, Sewell, Washington, Evans, and Theo in it...what’d y’all think they all have in common?
I’m just gonna say it @SoFL_Dawg, love you man, so glad to have you here to give 98% of us what we crave in terms of insider info!
They all play football
So there are 6 uncommitted recruits on your list, add Burch and dexter, that’s 8, that’s 25 for this year. Do you think we are more likely to have a decommit or one of those 8 not sign with UGA at this point?
What do they have in common?
They are all gonna be DAWGS!!!
I can see Jimmy Graham I can also see Austin Seferian-Jenkins athletic blend as well. Both guys are mismatch monsters in different ways and would be great safety options for an inexperienced qb if Fromm leaves after this year.
I’ve said DW/Theo is the best we can wish for.
I said this even when Gilbert was in the running to come here but I just don’t like the potential locker room issues with someone saying they know better than a coach as far as trying to call the shots. He already has UTjr bent over a barrel telling him they will cave to his WR demands. What happens when he faces adversity or is TOLD to do something by those coaches? He already TOLD them and they obeyed him. That’s not how this should work and that can cause animosity from other players seeing AG get what he demands. What happens at practice when he’s called out for loafing on a play in the heat of the summer? What happens when a coach gets in his face and challenges him to be better? They have nothing to stand on being a push over at the beginning. They built their house with Gilbert on the sand and are praying the wind and rain doesn’t come. He won’t take the coaching staff seriously and other players will see it. was hoping for Arian Smith as our 4t WR but if that didn’t happen I was hoping we wouldn’t flip flop with Arik. We NEED a TE and he doesn’t want to be a TE.
Of that group Burch, Dexter, and Ricks would be the ones I have the least amount of confidence in while confidence remains higher for them overall.
Burch is going to come down to Dec. I felt better about it when the chickens were running second. UGA/CU battle and we feel UGA leads.
The feeling is Dexter will flip based on season’s performance. There’s some things already set in motion behind the scene there. I do think if fu were to win 10 on the field this year he stays. I’d say they’re going 8-4 this year, 9-3 at best. Their recruiting class will be 12-20 and that’s not good enough on top of what they lost from 19 already. The pitch that they’re close and Dexter is the key missing piece will no longer hold water.
Ricks is the BPA at a luxury position for this class. We have two spots reserved at CB and Ricks just makes that an insane haul. I’ve heard he won’t end up at LSU and to watch OSU as well. I was told 70% UGA lean behind the scenes but that’s not good enough; I like those 90% predictions there as those rarely miss (like never).
Someone really talented will be left out of this class if we can’t take a full class.
TE Talk:
Gilbert: Great player and he knows it. Not the physical specimen of either Theo or DW, but his ball skills are unmatched (think George Pickens). He is cocky, but the best usually are. If we can’t get Arian Smith, then I think we should take him as a “4th WR”. As the season does on I think we will tell him he could be like George Pickens, so he will be watching more of what GP/ Cager/ Landers do, then what the TEs do. I think by the time the season has played out, Gilbert will come back around to us. The SECCG has to be played before he can sign. There is still a TON of time to make up any ground we may trail by ATM.
DW: If LeBron James had chosen football, this is what he would have looked like.
Theo: faster than DW. faster & taller than Gilbert. Not sure about his ball skills (could be Matt landers or George Pickens).
GO DAWGS!!!
Yep, I was wrong about this one. The only obstacle seems to be personality fit, and that’s what the visit will be used to gauge. If the staff likes him, he will get an offer. Imagine that, another UGA/CU battle brewing. Think we’ll be saying that a lot in the next few years.
I think the staff likes Henderson a lot, but I think it’s becomig clearer he’s going to follow his brother to Florida. He’s also a lot like guys CU currently has, while Smith is a different breed
If this has been answered my apologies but when is Darnell expected to announce? or is there no time line for him?
Is it that they are all seniors in high school?
That's all I could think of.
If it comes down to numbers, I'd rather have Ricks, Sewell or Dexter over Smith/any 4th WR
