Apropos of nothing, in the current 247 recruiting rankings, there are 6 SEC teams in the top 11; 11 SEC teams (out of 14 total) plus Georgia Tech in the top 25.
I know it's like that every year (in fact, it was exactly like that in 2019), but I wonder if non-SEC fans have any idea just how heavily weighted the talent is in our conference (and thus on our schedule).
wow you figured it out...good for you. You’re not as special as you present. Once you figure out this football thing, come on back, in the appropriate thread, and showcase your new found learnings.
I get/got your point. High risk, high reward, but this staff is talented and can thrive at it.
I do worry about ending up with a team that's less than the sum of its parts by getting players from all over. But again, that might just be showing my age because back in high school I couldn't tweet/text/call people I met from camps and whatever, so I only bonded with the people that lived within 10 miles of me.
If your goal is to end up in a text thread with just you and WC, I think you're going close to it.
If your goal is to end up in a text thread with just you and the rest of these posters blowing sunshine up each other while the sky falls around you, I think you're *getting close to it.
Either talk recruiting or take it to PM's......
What I know about 2020 QBs: Beck is a competitor. He's going to put his head down and go. No matter who comes in from this class.
The idea of a second QB signee has been presented to him. He gets it. Understands the numbers with 11 potentially entering the draft and the other presenting factor there on the QB depth chart.
He was good with Fromm taking another year in CFB, too. That's been the same feeling since he committed. He felt it could only benefit him to to learn under No. 11 for a season.
What I don't know about 2020 QBs: How would he handle a grad transfer coming in? That's the unknown. My guess is his outlook would remain the same. Beck wants to be a Bulldog. He'd just put his head down and go.
My understanding of the situation is he is already going to be on campus in December for bowl practices. The decision timeline with any Fromm choice would come after he's already on campus. That's just the right thing to do. If we know one thing about the Georgia QB, it is that he's going to put what is best for the team ahead of his own personal outlook at all times.
Classes have been heavily GA influenced though thru Kirby.
2016 I'll leave out cause most guys would've started and left early.
2017 - 16/25 ... Grant, Stokes, Herring, Thomas, Fromm, LeCounte all starters in state (Swift, Wilson, Landers, Rice all OOS starters - Webb sometimes)
2018 - 14/24 ... Azeez, Hill, Camarda all starters in state (Davis, Campbell, Mays all OOS starters- Mays may not be with healthy Ben)
2019 - 8/25 ... Nolan, Walker, Blay all in state starters (Pickens and Dean OOS starters) ... Cager and Wolf left out but they are OOS as well. (Daniel instate has started some games as well for Campbell).
2020 - 5/16 currently ... I'd foresee no in state starters and Zirkel as the only OOS (Maybe Milton, Rosemy, Beck)
Not bad numbers.... GA had a boom in 2018 and 2017. 2019 was decent but not as strong anBooth and OP left. 2020 is overall deep but not position fits (Murphy and AG excluded). No successful school stays local. Not even UF or USC during their peak. The local talent are usually the "stars" and then depth pieces that have local support and wont get homesick
Rumor is that Theo Johnson is having a hard time deciding between the production at PSU (Freiermuth is having a big season), the total team picture at UGA, or the family feel of Michigan. It would be very surprising to see him go Iowa...
Having Carson Beck will definitely help us here, we're the only team with above average QB recruiting, and it doesn't hurt that we're more successful than the other teams (at this moment). I'd say that the end of the season and the trending of the teams will be a big pull for Mr. Johnson. Let's hope PSU drops a few and Sean Clifford doesn't look good in the games. The delay really hurts PSU, Michigan is #3 right now, but sometimes family atmosphere prevails.
I wonder if he is at all concerned about Harbaugh's job security?
@JeffSentell, re: looking for a 2nd QB in this class what do you think about Stroud vs a grad transfer? Is it too early for chatter on the transfer front? I'm just wondering if Fromm were to jump after this year and let's say we pulled Stroud as the 2nd QB recruit then next year's QB room would be Mailman, Mathis (?), Beck, Stroud, walk-on? I know Stroud is a talent but I just don't know if two incoming FR QBs are what our roster needs.
You really think Coach Jeff Scott wouldLose out to coach Hankton For a elite receiver prospects there he wants? Doubt it. UGA will beat Clemson for RB, and OL but not WR.
Hi Clemson fan,
Welcome to the board. Pro tip, reading comprehension is key on here. As you'll notice that the member you're responding to said "at least I hope so," as in he's not saying it's guaranteed.
This PSA brought to you by Marlow's Tavern, Marco's Pizza, and Dixie V0dka. Cheers
Cheers too you man. Found this board form the dawgs 247 talking about the great SoFlaDawg, and Jeff. Not a dawg hater btw. I actually get a lot of flack on the Clemson247 board for being unbiased to UGA. So I come in peace. I’ve read every page on this thread since joining lol
