Basic economics. It’s a business, and Julio is in a position of strength. If we had the same options many NFL stars have today, we’d do the same thing to help secure our families future (3-4 generations). OBJ, Mack, Donald, Julio all following same strategy. Revis modeled this strategy better than anyone in recent memory.

Pay the man, and let’s get to work.

Actually The team holds all the legal cards, it's just a matter of whether they play them or not.
By the way, Ridley is getting rave reviews from both Falcons' coaches and players.

Also Julio has made well north of 100 million from The Falcons, his family will be just fine unless he pisses the money away.

Ridley ain’t Julio...people don’t buy tix to see the front office. Julio best thing to happen to the energy of the Falcons since Vick. Pay the man and move on.

Fans won't sty at home if JJ sits.
    Also Vick was a POS.

A top WR holds out every year. Julio is get 7M less than Antonio Brown who is the best WR in football. If Julio isn't #2 he's in the top 3. NFL players have no security so its right that he holds out. Its a union agreement that he has that option to seek his money. These arent MLB or NBA contracts. I dont get how he's on the downslope when his stats match up yearly. As a NFL fan I know for a fact the most you'd get for Julio is maybe 2 first rounders at best. As a Packers fan you over paid your QB and didnt take care of the best player on your team. Julio Jones will literally be voted at a Top 10 player by his coworkers this week. That says a lot about his talent. Every WR is supporting Julio (even UGAs own AJ Green). He deserves to be paid for his work otherwise he should hold out til he is compensated fairly.

''NO SECURITY'' How about the 71 million dollars he's making on just his current contract ?
If he refuses to abide by the terms he, his legal team and agent agreed to, let him sit without pay.

You realize NFL contracts aren't guaranteed?

    Many are, Julio's is.
Of course as with all contracts there are provisions like actually making an effort to show up that have to be met.
If JJ refuses to show up and do his job, he's in violation of his contract and his salary can be withheld.

I just checked, 47 million of the 5 year contract was guaranteed, He's probably already pocketed that much and all he has to do is adhere to the provisions he agreed to and he'll pocket the entire 71 million plus change.

I just saw that Julio is working out with Terrell Owens..the single most selfish player in NFL history. JJ has gone tone deaf, I just hope it doesn't rub off on him.

T.O. has no effect on Julio. T.O. is probably one of the hardest workers in NFL history at WR. He is top 3 WR of all time. Julio is working to get better at his craft. The fact T.O. just ran a 4.5 is a sign that you want Julio to train with him. It gets him better. T.O. doesnt seem more selfish than Ochocinco, Merriman, Brandon Marshall, Plaxico, Vick, etc. T.O. gave his heart on the field and stayed in shape. I'll take that any day. Jerry Jones, Roger Goodell, and Jim Irsay are the two most selfish people in NFL period.

T.O. was cancer to every team he ever played for. I don't know of any other player in any sport who was as self centered or who time after time threw teammates under the bus like that guy did.
Is is just a coincidence JJ stayed away from a mandatory camp while in this slime ball's company ?

You must not know anything about T.O. You only hear snippets and Im guessing assume. But ththeththey goad him into these questions. Same guy that went to bat for his QBs didnt get the same in return. But yeah he's a team cancer that took every team in his prime years to the playoffs. Slime ball is an opinion thing but thats horrible to say about someone you dont know at all. You have to realize he's done a lot for every team he's been on.

Julio is only guaranteed 35.5M just to be clear. There is only one fully guaranteed contract in the NFL and thats Kurt Cousins. He will only get all the money if every bonus is met along with avoiding any serious injury that could lead to him being cut. As for your other post his pay cant be withheld he will just receive heavy fans and can lose a season off his NFL clock.

The cancer burned every team and every bridge in his entire career. He wouldn't be welcomed by any of them

There are 7 WRs making more than Julio. Maybe and thats a big maybe only two are better (Hopkins and Brown) but Landry averages 10 yards a catch, AJ hasn't stayed healthy, Mike Evans hahaha, Watkins had one good NFL year, and Adams just got his... So yeah Julio has outperformed his prior contract. Thats hownthe game goes. Theres no way you watch everyone at your job whom you are better than get raises and not consider yourself being worth a raise.

Here is how we came to this point.
In 2015 Dez Bryant was given a 70 million dollar deal/extention. The Falcons tore up JJ's existing contract and wrote a new one which made him the highest paid receiver in history at that time.
Julio and his agent wanted a front end loaded contract, ( more money in the first years, which happened to be through 2017. The Falcons agreed, their incentive to do so only kicks in this coming season.
Now that the team has done it's part, Julio wants to have his cake, eat it, then demand more cake. he wants the advantages he's already received, plus he wants to take away the team's advantages he agreed to.
This is pure BS on Julio's part, I'd let him sit and rot before I gave in to his greedy demands.
Again, the team holds every legal card in this case.

But every owner he's had has said he was a plus for the organization. T.O. brought money to owners. Thats all they care about. Not to mention he took them to the playoffs. He was exciting to watch. So I'd say he helped more than he hurt. Burning every bridge would be Dez. T.O. got signed by 6 teams. Maybe owners and GMs know what talent is worth.

As a member of the Union. Julio has every right to hold out. The team really holds equal amount of legal cards. Julio has the union and the NFL has the contract. But maybe you should look at Arthur Blank basically saying he's gonna pay Julio. Thats how business work. Contracts get reworked all the time. I witness it daily. Its jist business you're taking it personal saying he should rot. He's the only unstoppable thing on that entire offense.

No locker room in the league would welcome T.O. Donovan McNabb is just one example of his disloyal back stabbing.
McNabb went out of his way to convince Eagles' players to welcome the brat. He then stood beside him even when the poisoned the locker room. T.O. ended up trashing DM, just like he spread rumors that his QB in S.F. was gay.
He is the worst teammate in history that I'm aware of, now he's in JJ's ear and Julio stayed away from a mandatory camp.

You are dead wrong, the union endorses contracts. Their parameters was agreed on in collective bargaining.
The only way the union would get involved is if there was a question about whether the contract terms were violated. If JJ holds out, he is in violation of the terms and isn't owed his salary while absent.
Now completely voiding the contract takes a high level of cause, but it wouldn't be in the team's interest to let him walk anyway. Just call his bluff and let him sit without pay till he decide it's in his interest to return.

If I was Blank I'd tell Julio he has a choice to honor his agreement, then the team would consider SOME changes, but not voiding the part of the current contract that was negotiated to give the team some back end advantages, or he can play hardball and the team would do likewise.

Sometimes standing for something is more honorable than being nice.

We all did, but his flaws are all (IMHO) merely missteps at trusting others. He has always done the honorable thing throughout his owning the team. Atlanta couldn't ask for a more honorable man. If there are any other team owner(s) with more of a good guy, & 110% total upstanding values as a human being, I certainly do not of one? There are a lot (as in many, many) examples of his being a good, & solid citizen, and they aren't hard at all to look up nowadays.
