Chase Elliott finally won a race..

He won on the toughest road course to boot. Watkins Glen has been dominated by great drivers like Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin. Maybe this will be the first of many for Wild Bill's boy, the sport needs him.

Don’t forget about Cole Trickle and Rowdy Burns either. They’ve had their time on Watkins glen

Will Ferrell is the most god awful excuse for an actor or comedian. He is to Phil Hartman what Molly Hatchet is to Lynyrd Skynyrd, a hack replacing a legend.

NASCAR is becoming as bad as pro wrestling. They change the rules as it suits them, races seem to be won by whomever they need to win....Like when Earnhardt Jr. won the first Daytona race after Sr. was killed, and the product lately is just.....meh. I think I would rather watch paint dry.

As for the reference to 'Days of Thunder'.....Cole Trickle was supposed to have been based on 2 drivers....Tim Richmond and Geoff Bodine. Rowdy Burns was, of course based on Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

I agree the rules get more ridiculous every time somebody gets a bright idea.
The old conspiracy notion of fixing the outcome makes no sense though.
The last thing the sport needed was a boring California boy to dominate the sport for a decade without a bit of flair.
If the France family had manipulated outcomes Dale Jr would have 100 plus wins.

They didn't need him to win 100-plus times......But they did need him to win at Daytona on July 4th weekend after his old man got killed on opening day. The product took a BIG hit when DE, Sr. was killed. And in some ways....they still haven't completely recovered from it. He was the biggest NASCAR icon since Petty.

And speaking of the Petty family, Adam was going to be the next big thing in NASCAR until he was killed. That was also a really bad day for the sport.

They DESPERATED needed Dale Jr. to win A LOT, he just wasn't good enough.
If there was any fixing going on Jimmy Johnson wouldn't have dominated the sport.
