Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Learner a tough lesson today
1. Don’t use other people equipment. It’s either junk or not working right and you spend the time you bid on the job fixing it
2.If you don’t want to do it then don’t. Don’t over bid a job hoping for a no only to become a money w.hore. Do what you like and don’t do something because the money is good.
Hate painting, staining, etc. 25 acres of horse fence, plus stalls. Over bid it hoping for a no. Told me I could use their equipment plus buying the supplies. Plus agreed to my price... said yes.
Dont do what you don’t want to do. Life is too short. Don’t be a money w.hore. Telling myself to have standards after today
sprayed 25 acres of horse fence with crappy equipment

Been there. I just don't bid if I don't want the job or the people are just A- H O L E S.
Yup, it won’t happen again. About to head back there to hopefully finish before the rain comes
Finish strong. Take the lesson. Don't repeat. If you do the right thing it will come back to you in Aces.
It’s a tough position with social media. Ive had assholes give a bad review because I said I couldnt help their situation, when I was really just trying to avoid them and their bad attitude. Makes me want to hit them in the forehead with a hammer as a favor to society. People who “yelp” all the time should be taken out of the genepool, as should all yelp executives.
I've had job offers in NYC before where I bid a 100 mile load at $4000 thinking to myself there was no way I would get it. Ended up getting them every time without fail. I jumped my rate up 1k same thing. Usually spend about $50 in fuel so 3950-4950 in the pocket after it's done. Finally gave up bidding them too high 3 years ago and just refuse the work now. Usually when someone takes a high bid it's because no one else wants to do the job.
Sounds like you need to go up to 20k next time to me.
20k might get me to go there again. It will have to be a ridiculously high number for sure. Most of the time now I pick up in NJ just outside the city. Rates no where near as good, but I get to keep my sanity.
I mean, I have no idea what your margin is or anything about the financial state of that kind of business, but there has to be a number that would make it worth it. Right? What if they paid you 100k, that would be worth it right? You could take time off and a vacation at a certain point.
Some jobs aren’t worth it no matter the pay in my opinion if you dread doing it.
What does it profit a man if he gains the world and loses his soul?
Also, you cannot serve God and Mammon.
You're on the right track @JRT812.
Thanks my man! Needed that for sure
I mean sure, and some jobs might take so long that it's not worth it, but if I could do one terrible job that took me a month and paid as much as another job did for a year, then I would do that job and take 6 months off. In that case, I think the cost/benefit analysis works out in your favor in that situation. It's one thing to get paid twice as much for an absolutely terrible job that takes longer than it should. It's another to get paid 40 times as much for the same job. For the record, @JRT812 , I totally understand why your job wasn't worth it, but what if you got paid 100 times what you actually were? Would it have been worth it then?
My thesis here is that you guys aren't highballing enough.
