Eyeball Test

The keywords there are UGA's "emphasis on the run" is what likely caused the decommitment (along with wanting to play with Fields), not that he was afraid to block. He wanted to go to an offense where he'd catch the ball more, can't blame him for that.

You know how many players celebrate like that at these national exhibition camps/games? A mountain was made of a molehill here. Mainly because he was no longer coming to UGA. I'm not saying Haselwood is a flawless individual, just saying you could sit back and watch this board (and UGA fans in general) slowly turn on him, all because they could see he wasn't going to be a Dawg.

Antonio Brown also looks WNBA ready. Just sayin' - the eyeball test is pretty worthless with WRs.. Look at the size of the guys drafted in the first two rounds of this years draft. Most were smaller.

Bank, you’ve convinced me that height and weight are worthless in player evaluation. Thank you.

Big or small, just need someone to catch the ball. Players gonna play !

@DGDinNYC - couldn't agree more. Thankfully we got one of them.

Idc about eyeball tests but I’d take Pickens every time. More physical probably wouldn’t mind blocking idk haven’t watched tape or anything.

JH sure he said he has no problem blocking in a run dominated offense but Fields publicly said he didn’t mind sitting for a year too. Can’t prove it but I believe the only reason JH was coming to UGA was because of Fields.

Yeah but Moss was supposedly clocked at 4.25 in the 40. Whether or not that’s an accurate time is irrelevant because all you have to do is look at his film to see he was fast. Neither Haselwood nor Pickens is close to being that fast.

Point is, he had speed that others who may or may not pass the eyeball test don’t have. And as we all know, you can’t teach speed.

I also recall Pickens film impressing me more. Seemed to be a smoother route runner. Maybe it was just green grass though as haselwood was committed when I watched and Pickens wasn’t.

Pickens looks like a straight beast and he needs to be able to step in and help us from day .1

One can shadowbox a db, one can lay out a LB.

@Teddy I liked Hasselwood, but the diva act got old. There are WRs that I have concerns on from what I am seeing/hearing.

One is really good, but doesn’t take grades serious... maybe you argue that was the same boat for Pickens last year, I don’t know his story.

But, this year, my concern was Burton. There is just a feeling I get about him that I hope he isn’t on our team. Maybe it’s the 4 schools in 4 years (may not be 100% accurate on that number, but nonetheless)

@bmauldin the diva act wasn't a label Haselwood had until he started visiting other schools (which he said he was going to do all along when he committed to UGA in March of 17'). That's all I'm saying. The more it looked like he wasn't coming to UGA, the more diva talk came about, and every action he took was under a microscope by the fan base in order to find ways to call him a diva.

Didn't something happen to Haselwood on the sideline of a UGA game as well? Player or assistant like cussed him out? Can't recall 100%

But if he signed with UGA, it probably would've gone something like this from the fans, "he needs to keep his cool, but I love his passion!"

Death, Taxes, and Teddy stepping in to defend JH.
