Very early into the cycle, but we can go ahead and speculate here.

    What about Walker Kessler?

Any big names? Who follows up Antman? Need another 5*! Don't want to just make the tournament. I want us to compete! These big time players are 1 and done. Let's go ahead and get two 5* players so they can play together before leaving.

Kessler is a strong Duke lean right now from everything I've seen. Hopefully we'll have a jump in on court performance and reap some high level targets.

Crean will get another 5 star or at worst 3-4 more 4 stars

  • brentwilsonbrentwilson Posts: 2,677 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

@HornedDawgs @WCDawg i don’t think he fits Crean’s system. He doesn’t use a true big, and if he does they have to need to be quick. Kessler doesn’t really fit that mold.

To be fair, Deivon Smith is very close to being a 5. I think he’ll get the bump by the time it’s over. He’s one of the best point guards in the country, and has BOUNCE.

Tough to expect more 5*s when we have only had 3-4 in the history of the program, and that counts Dominique when stars weren’t a thing. Still, this past year shows our staff can recruit. New territory for us. I’m excited!

  • brentwilsonbrentwilson Posts: 2,677 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

@greshamdisco good point. Edwards and Caldwell-Pope are the only 5 star enrollees in program history.

we need Deivon Smith. that dude is a baller.

It will probably be hard for CTC to land another top 10 class until some postseason success occurs. Once the hiring buzz cools recruits will want to start seeing results. But he will get us there. I just need to be patient. I want to "Dance" next Spring, which might be a little too optimistic.

I want the kid from Norcross.

  • HornedDawgsHornedDawgs Posts: 610 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

@brentwilson @WCDawg You guy said were right.. Kessler named a top 5 and we didn’t make the cut. Honestly it’s not a big deal. I’m just glad we have a team and a coach good enough to actually pay attention to

Brandon Boston is the Norcross kid. He's been a done deal to Kentucky since he was a sophomore but Duke is making progress lately. I gotta check with my guys as to the status of the Duke offer, I believe he's only a take if they miss on Kessler.

Big news with Boston coming Monday- not gonna be helpful for UGA's cause. I'd move on from him.

  • brentwilsonbrentwilson Posts: 2,677 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Believe Boston transferred to McEacheran. I watched him play last week and i wasnt really impressed, but just imo. i do like shariffe cooper tho.

He's going a bit further away than that... I've never been a fan of his game but he's obviously very highly regarded.

We need an infusion of TALENT. I haven't seen Boston play. It's darn near impossible now to see any Georgia high school basketball living in Texas now (I used to officiate back in Atlanta so it was easier then). But if he's rated a 5⭐️ talent and he's visiting on Monday (shout out @DGDinNYC for the info) that's up to the coach to get him to play well in his system.
