Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Geez, didn't think I needed the /s for a picture of Kim Jong Un. Live and learn.
If Smith does commit, does he come on a track scholarship as a way to work around the available football scholarships?
I think of it like this. If he's willing to commit say, before September, then I think he's worth the risk even if he flips. If he's not, then I do not think it's worth it at all.
That being said, Tank can commit any time apparently, and so if Tank tries to commit before Evans, and you know Evans decision is imminent, do you tell Tank no? Those are the kind of dilemmatic decisions that you have to make when you're making 7 figures.
Would be nice, but not allowed. A football player receiving any UGA scholarship (so not HOPE or other local scholarships) is treated as a scholarship player. Otherwise you'd end up with track/baseball teams full of football players.
Take the in state kid along with Milton and call it a day IMHO.
One man’s opinion: Evans’ measurables are undeniable and any team (or fan) would want to see that type of talent playing for their team.
That said - and I know nothing more than what I see/read online & on social media - there seem to be some potential maturity questions when compared to some of the other RBs discussed here who seem exceptionally polished & thoughtful considering their age by comparison (ie - MIlton). Generally speaking - I’d rather take the 3rd or 4th ranked RB with no maturity concerns behind this OL than trying to win a Recruiting Class Rank trophy by signing the top ranked RB and having it potentially disrupt the program’s project to date.
Having a culture of accountability and strong leaders in the locker room can go a long way to help mature guys in a hurry, but only the staff know for sure how much growing up any of these players have to do off the field to help the team achieve its goals collectively (never mind how successful the player can be individually in meeting their personal goals in the game, academically, after college, etc).
Can’t wait to see what this weekend has in store for this Class (!)
it seems like things took a turn in this forum thread after the raym commitment and some guy discontinuing coach scott. To me people really ungrateful about who we get or don’t get. To be honest what if Kirby didn’t do such a great job his first two years. We wouldn’t be so into recruiting and getting upset about certain recruits because we wouldn’t even be recruiting at such a high level for the 2020 class. Peoples expectations are high as they should be but remember Georgia is still trying to become a national brand for 2020 and beyond.
This should have been expected following our run to the playoff in 2017. There were articles coming out before the title game telling Georgia fans to soak it up, because expectations breed discontent, and we're certainly seeing that now. If we all kept the same mindset we had during the 2017 season, we would see more clearly how ridiculous this level of recruiting is for Georgia. It's absolutely unprecedented in the history of our program.
I am wondering with only 5 scholarship RBs for 2019 do we try to recruit 3 RBs in 2020 to get us back to 6 RBs?
Im thinking:
1) Milton
2) Tank
3) Daijun Edwards
would a guy as good as Daijun Edwards want to be the 3rd back?
recruiting ratings don't mean everything and he could get on campus and beat out somebody ahead of him.
we will be in this same situation for the 2021 cycle if both Zeus & Cook go pro & we only take 2 RBs in 2020
You (and of course Jeff) are truly exceptional gentlemen. I appreciate you guys posts and knowledge tremendously. Please keep the posts coming when you’re back in the mood. This year is going to be legendary when all is said and done!
"For me, this started to feel like work and became less fun. It’s just supposed to be fun. However, when you’re vested in your team, it does become difficult to allow straight bs to stand without a response. That’s where I got mentally over the last few weeks (I was responding). This forum reads and feels different than others I’ve browsed. This is a place for Dawg fans to congregate, discuss being Dawgs, recruiting, and beyond. Recently, we’ve gotten away from that but this is my social media home, so I’ll be back for sure. Once games start, hopefully positivity will return as recruiting has failed at keeping us positive which is straight up baffling. Why so serious?"
@SoFL_Dawg Amen, I feel you brother. Same thing for me, I haven't been on here in quite a few months because of all the negativity, narcissism, finger pointing and off-topic stuff that was running rampant here way back earlier in the year, it was just too much and I needed a break from it. Also been dealing with some (unknown/undiagnosed) ongoing health problems since the first of the year also, which has not been a fun ride. I hope I'm on the mend now though. Being away for a while has done me good, but I recently came back here and have just been lurking behind the shadows since Jeff's reporting from the Opening. I just haven't felt compelled to post anything lately until I read about your frustrations. You're not alone my friend.
On a positive note, I've been reading back through pages of your insight, and I'm definitely beginning to get more excited about our recruiting and upcoming season. It can't get here fast enough. Hopefully we get some recruits to pop this weekend too.
Get some R & R amigo, then keep doing your thing. And to all my other old friends, I see you...
GO DAWGS
I can't imagine we would just due to how tight space is in the class already. We may put a little more emphasis on finding PWO RBs for this cycle though for that reason. 5 RBs is still a lot... even with the amount that we spread the ball around.
It seems we will be able to convince two elite backs to play together. What are the chances the backs would agree to us signing three backs - ZERO
@CZCashvilleDawg I agree DW goes to Alabama. I think James Coley and Todd Hartley will impress TJ and AG by the end of the Notre Dame game. Kirby maybe the best recruiter in the game. The reason I’m not work about Mullet. Kirby has earned our trust. Pruitt can recruit though. More worried about Tennesse than Florida next 5 years
5 RB is the ideal number. A 3rd RB would be a gross waste of scholarship and I would rather take a 5th WR to cover an area where we are short both in terms of overall numbers and Blue Chip recruits. A running attack is obviously our preference but will not be successful without a credible passing threat.
